Concrete Ideas on How to Cope With Stress
Stress is just a part of life and can be found no matter where in the world you go. Is stress merely part of the inescapable human condition? Stress does not happen to make our day unbearable. You could say that stress is a natural reaction to an action taken, the consequence of a causative event. For every action there is a reaction and often times the stress that we have to endure is the stress we bring upon ourselves by the choices we make.

Emotional Muscles
EMOTIONS are a huge element in our lives. They affect how we experience the world... and, each emotion serves as a unique filter for our life's experiences. Sometimes it feels that we're at the mercy of our emotions. I'd like to suggest how we can take greater control of our lives by more consciously choosing some of our emotions. I believe emotions play a powerful role in helping us achieve our goals, dreams, and in creating fulfilling lives. The more we "feel" an emotion... the more we attract that into our lives. Simply put....joy breeds joy. Stress breeds stress. Peace breeds peace. Essentially, it's Law of Attraction.

Choice or Habit?
When life delivers a plethora of unexpected and unpleasant surprises, it can be easy and automatic to react negatively. Many of these reactions are unconscious and engrained in us as human beings. Throughout our lives, most of us are taught and conditioned to react to disappointments with sadness, unkindness from others with anger or defensiveness, heavy traffic with stress and frustration, illness and death with fear, and our mistakes with judgment. If I listed twenty activities, most would agree on the "common way" to react to each situation. But, who says this is how we "should" be reacting? Is there an alternative choice? Is there a more effective way? Or are we truly helpless victims to life's circumstances?

Retirement Is Not The Goal, Entrepreneurism Is
Most working men and women over the age of 50 start thinking about retirement, and many start planning for it. They do their due diligence on investment strategies, position themselves well in their companies, review their estate planning, and so on. While each individual step in retirement planning in amongst itself is sound advice, the main question to ask during this transitional phase in their lives is, "What is the goal?" Retirement should not be the goal. Retirement limits your potential to positively impact the lives of others. Owning a simple yet fully principled internet business where you are the centerpiece of leadership is the key to getting all the benefits of retirement, with the added advantages of residual income and a source of true happiness for you and your family.

Most entrepreneurs are aware of the importance to stay in shape, but the challenge is that entrepreneurs typically adopt the same approach to exercise as they do to business. Adding high intensity, fast-paced exercise to a high intensity, fast-paced life only serves to amplify the imbalance in your life leading to an increased risk of illness, injury or burnout. When, Why and How You Need to Hire a Freelance Project Manager
Most successful outsourcing buyers post their first freelance project to fill a specific skill need or budget gap on a particular project, finding a skilled worker or two and seeing the project completed successfully. Then, as success breeds success, their needs continue to expand and more freelance professionals are eventually hired. Suddenly, these outsourcing buyers find themselves managing a growing remote workteam, which is usually more demanding than anticipated and ultimately a resource stress. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the requirements of keeping your remote workteam in motion on an outsourcing project, perhaps you need to consider hiring a freelance project manager.

Seven Key Words for Success
These seven words, when used properly, hold the key to finding answers and solutions to every problem, obstacle, or barrier you will encounter. When you are faced with a problem, look at this list to determine what you need to do or be to solve it. 1. Change To make things different in your life, you have to make one or more changes. Change happens all the time, and there is nothing we can do about it. Few things in life are static or permanent, and the "status quo" is never permanent. There are only two things in life that never change: truth, and the fact that everything else changes. Regardless of your background, you can become more.

Entrepreneurs - How Can You Start A Business During A Recession?
Starting a business during a recession seems such a silly thing to do. You may have no other choice if you are sitting at home with your redundancy cheque. Or your entrepreneurial spirit may have been stirred up. Disney started during the recessional period of 1923-24, HP started during the Great Depression and Microsoft during the 1975 recession – so it can be done. Here are a few pointers for you.

Fairy Tales
One of my clients told me the following story: "we were sitting in a meeting and it was, to say the least, very tense. The big boss was angry with her leadership team. She wanted the finished proposal for a major, big, gargantuan business deal finished before the sun set that day, right after the meeting. Everyone took a breath and looked down at the table. They all knew it was impossible. The stats had not been delivered yet and there was no way it could be done and done right by early evening, even by late that night.

Work is Best if You "Practice Safe Stress"
Sorry, I can't just make a quick list here. I am going to give you some tips and tolls to practice "SAFE STRESS". However, it cannot be done in a few sound bites. It will take some searching inside yourself to find your specific issues that keep you from personal fulfillment and even financial freedom. This is a time to do some spring cleaning of your old patterned behavior and beliefs that keep you, (you're not alone, they keep all of us) from reaching peak performance and be able to stay there.

Stress and the Sales Cycle
On one hand we are being told that the economy is improving, turning around, doing better. On the other hand we hear our colleagues say that sales are down, services are still being cut back. Jobs are being cut and the jobless rate continues to inch higher. There is the flavor and smell of fear in almost every workplace. If sales are down then what is up? Stress and office conflict are on the increase and the natural tendency to blame and judge is on the rise. Recently a very angry client called me with the following question. Actually, it was more than a question; it was a ten minute rant and rave about injustice and unfairness. It went something like this "He stole my idea. He used my exact words and took all the credit.

Is Paranoia an Acquired Taste?
In "Don't Bring It to Work" the underlying idea is that when stress hits the hot button we all revert to behavior patterns we learned as kids in our original organization, the family for protection and survival. That is what seems to be showing up around our country in this time of sadness and confusion. The knee-jerk reactions are so similar to ones that we can all remember when disagreements broke out in elementary and middle school playgrounds. We were given detentions, told to behave, but rarely sat down to really look at what started the upset in the first place.

Say Goodbye to Procrastination……Today
"I'll get it to you later this afternoon" can send a sigh of relief through your body or a shudder of gloom. It all depends on who is making that statement. If you work with a procrastinator life can be full of stress and deep-seated anger. So, what can you do? First thought is to fire the slug! Slow is okay, tardy is often acceptable. However, promises that are made and never kept, well, that is another story.

The Super Achiever Stuck
"Strive for excellence" was the mantra in the alternative school my children attended. It was a high priced, beautifully appointed campus made up of the best and the brightest. Sounds good, huh? Not so fast. Now, years later I see the damage that stress and over achievement cost. You see, all the kids who went there drove themselves crazy being excellent. The translation of the word really meant, did you get all A's and how many fancy Ivy League schools accepted you into the rarified air of the privileged few.

Reminders Put Your Keys in Your Fridge
The other night I was staying at a hotel because I was delivering a workshop this morning. As we always do when I'm traveling, as I get ready to go to sleep my husband and I talk on the phone. Work Life Harmony, Rather Than Work Life Balance
Work life balance suggests people are living two lives, one at work and one away from work. But people don't 'work' for five days or more and 'live' for two days or less. Work is just one of many roles that people perform in their week. No matter where they are or what they are doing, day or night, people are carrying personal baggage, problems, responsibilities, personal goals and work goals. Separation of work and personal life roles has become a blur and, to many of us, almost a seamless link. Family friendly policies are now only one aspect of the work life balance issue. Work life balance has become a key factor in attracting and retaining good staff, male and female in a buyers market generated by a shortage of quality skilled staff.

No Pressure - Any Time in the Next Half Hour Will Do
Managing people at work used to be relatively simple - you only worried about what they did during working hours. The answers don't just rest in the way they approach their work. It's more about what they do when they are away from work. This article unlocks some answers that are, and always have been, available to everyone.

Stress-Free Selling® - Eliminate Stress in Sales
A sale is stressful when we approach Prospects with the intention of making a sale and the fear of not making a sale. To compound matters, Prospects are afraid we are going to manipulate them. They are afraid we are going to sell them something. . . something that's not in their best interest. Prospects accept appointments reluctantly (which is why we have difficulty getting them on the phone in the first place) and are pre-armed with a litany of excuses (aka objections) to get rid of you. It is this dichotomy of goals (you want to make a sale and Prospects want to protect themselves) that creates stress. Imagine if you both want to meet. Imagine if neither feels the other is going to try to force anything on him. Imagine you both feel the only acceptable outcome is the satisfaction of your Prospect's goals.

Stress-Free Selling® - How to Talk About Increasing Prices
Are your rates increasing? Are you concerned about how your customers are going to take it? Are you having a hard time passing along the increase? Follow three simple steps and you will make telling your customers easy:

Stress-Free Selling® - How to Make it About Them
You've heard a million times by now to make your sales About Them. But how do you do that???? Here's one easy way how. Take a look at a recent letter or proposal you wrote. Count how many times you wrote "I" or "we." Now count how many times you wrote "you" and "your." If you're like most people, there are ten times more "I's" and "we's" as there are "you's" and "your's." Reverse that! When you write in "I" terms, you write about yourself.

Stress-Free Selling® - Eliminate Wonder
I don’t like hearing “I’m not interested” or even worse getting no returns to calls or emails after sending a proposal or making a presentation. I’m sure you don’t either. One of the biggest reasons this happens is… you didn’t find out how what you are presenting meets or misses their needs. The good news is, it’s easy to get there. Add this simple process to your tactics: Check In.

Stress-Free Selling® - The Power of Belief
Ah, the power of conviction. If we believe our prices are too high, we create price resistance. If we believe our prices are justified, appropriate, a good value, worth what we're asking, watch price objections dwindle!

In the picture, there is a scale: on one side of the scale, there is a pile of gold bars, on the other the earth. As Al Gore somewhat wryly pointed out…gold is not much use to you if you have no earth. I must say the same thought strikes me when I read about “work-life balance.”
