Lesson #3: Dare to Take a Chance and Be the First
| |
| Monaghan is fond of saying, “I owe all my success to stupidity.” In reality, the emergence of Domino’s as a global pizza empire owes itself less to the fact that Monaghan didn’t know what he was doing, as to the fact that he was willing to take risks and gamble on ideas he couldn’t predict the odds or the outcome of. |

How to Change the World: Defensibility
| |
| Blog reader Curtis Thompson asked me a very good question a few days ago: What should an entrepreneur say when she’s asked what makes her company defensible? This question is more and more common as more and more entrepreneurs start “Web 2.0 companies,” and investors torture themselves by wondering why they didn’t fund YouTube. |

We feel there is no one to share this information with because there would be disappointment. That disappointment is not bearable. How to get pass this point in life? |

The Most Neglected Ingredient in Business Growth
| |
| Some 96% of all businesses fail within their first eight years. Owners who have survived great challenges know that some crucial elements protect them from fire damage. Too many, unfortunately, have neglected one element. That void can be lethal to a business.

Stupid People Stupid Questions
| |
| No doubt, you have often heard it said, "There are no stupid questions," or, "The only stupid question is the question you didn't ask."
Although these statements-of-truth are often repeated, over the years I have found that very, very few people ever really ask the questions they should.
Stupidity is a learned condition ... not an inherited trait.

Leadership Courage --- Don't Get Bit by Your Own Rattlesnake
| |
| Honest negative feedback is difficult to accept. It takes tremendous courage. I learned that twenty years ago. I thought I knew just about everything there was to know about running a company let alone a smaller $100 million dollar division. I had owned and sold several successful businesses and that success certainly enlarged my ego even though I didn’t realize it at the time. I was a little too self-indulged and my self confidence bordered on arrogance and stupidity. I even had a rattlesnake sitting on my desk with a statement that can’t be printed exactly as it appeared, due to censorship. |

WWW Need Not Mean WordPress Website Woes!
| |
| If you're a website designer, engaged in a website rebuild or makeover, you owe it to your clients to ensure you do more good than harm in the process! If your stupidity causes the newly rebuilt website to vanish off Google's radar screen, it does not matter one iota if the site looks stunning! |

Website Idiosyncrasies & Content Duplication Idiocies
| |
| The laziest amongst us, those with an allergy to original thought, and those who hate writing the most are almost always adamant that unique content is over-rated, unnecessary or even pointless. One of the website content frustrations I frequently endure is the failure, on the part of others, to comprehend the value of accuracy and uniqueness. There is intransigence in that respect, particularly on the part of some designers of e-commerce and content management systems. It is indicative of 3 parts of ignorance, arrogance and stupidity, in almost equal measure... |

Let’s not let the status quo sink society
| |
| There is a lot of stupidity going on in the world today (and some idiocy!).
In many ways the status quo is sinking society.
What we all need to do is not be stupid or idiotic ourselves, rather claim our specialness and step-up to our significance. |
