Network Marketing Success tips: 9 basic action motives

Napoleon Hill said, “No man, apart from the insane, takes any sort of action without a motive”. So if we need someone to take a specific action then it becomes imperative that we provide a sufficient motive. This especially applies in the field of sales and the Network Marketing industry. Many networkers struggle to recruit people because of...

Network Marketing Prospecting tip: 4 must-ask questions

Network Marketing Success Tips: Choose your team wisely

Imagine this: You are a soccer coach about to lead your team to the field for an all important match. Just before you leave for the field, a star player approaches you in the locker room and tell you this – “Coach, I am going to play on the left wing. I am not going to give passes to X, Y and Z because I don’t like them. These are my conditions; if you are okay with them then you can let me play”. What do you think you will do?

Fear: The biggest obstacle to success

When I was in MLM, I used to wonder why people do not grab the opportunity when it stares right in their faces? I used to think why I could see the opportunity very clearly but the others don’t? I later realized that they do see the opportunity but they don’t want to accept it because they are doubtful whether they will be successful at it. That’s the real problem. It’s the age-old obstacle called the ‘Fear of Failure’ that prevents them from taking action for their own good.

Rest is as important as Activity

It was 0630 pm and the sun had just set on the highway. I was driving back home from work on a busy day and was keeping the care at the speed limit of 100 kmph. The audio CD program ‘Power of positive thinking’ by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was being lapped up. All seemed well, except for one fact – I was asleep at the wheel.

How to create lasting change and success

For my height my ideal weight should be 75 kgs. So being the 92kgs that I am is not much fun and healthy. For the past 10 years I have been struggling to get to the 75 kgs level, but to no avail. I start off on an exercise program, get in the mid 80s and before I know it I give up and get back on square one. Haven’t you gone through this before? Have you been wondering why this happens? Why is it that even though you start off with so much energy and conviction you lose steam halfway through? The answer can be found in none other than...

How to eliminate credit card debt strategically

It was not until 2 years after that initial credit card purchase that I realized my folly. I was deep in debt with 3 maxed out cards. Struggling to pay off the cards out of my paycheck, life became uninteresting. I vowed to be debt-free and took it as my personal mission. The result? After 6 more years I had 7 maxed out credit cards and a huge personal loan to pay off (which by the way I had borrowed to pay off my credit card debt).

During my cashflow club meetings, I have noticed that every time there is a gathering there are always fresh faces to be seen. What to do when Overwhelmed – a 5-step approach

There are generally two reasons why people procrastinate. One is when they don’t know what to do and the other, is when they have too much to do and don’t know where to start. Let’s talk about the latter part – the one where there is too much to do. This condition is popularly known as Overwhelm. But unlike what most people perceive, overwhelm is actually a good thing - at least, better than not having anything to do at all. Let’s look at how one can easily get over this hurdle.

Good Debt, Bad Debt: Know the difference

Does debt make you richer or poorer? Ask a poor or middle class man, and he will say it makes me poorer. Ask the rich, and he will say that it makes me richer. Why are the answers at the opposite ends of the spectrum? The reason why the answers differ is because of the kind of debt that each class refers to. The poor and the middle class look at all debts are ‘bad’ debts, whereas the rich look at debts as ‘good’ debts. Now, what’s the difference between ‘Bad’ and ‘Good’ debts? The former takes money out of your pocket, whereas the latter puts money in your pocket. Understanding this fundamental difference will do you a whale of good when it comes to financial management. Let’s explore further.

How to start off fresh each day

Maria Robinson said, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.” As you may have gathered by now, it becomes imperative that...

Importance of Coaching: Why does one need one?

| When an evil spirit goes out of the person, it travels over dry country looking for a place to rest. If it can't find one, it says to itself ‘I will go back to my house which is clean and all fixed up’. Then it goes out and brings seven other spirits even worse than itself and they come and live there. So when it is all over, that person is in worse shape than at the beginning. - Matthew: 12: 43-45

The Opportunity of the Information Age

In the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell explains that success by no means is just sheer hard work and high IQ. It also involves your upbringing, being presented with the right opportunity at the right time and your thought process. There is one section that I found quite interesting. He lists down the 75 richest humans ever to set foot on planet Earth, from Pharaohs to the current day Carlos Slims. The #1 was...

Luck is what happens when preparedness meets opportunity

| Being an avid aviation fan since childhood, planes (especially general aviation) have always had a special place in my heart. And I remember very clearly the time when I had an opportunity to work for Boeing. I was invited for the interview and result was that they liked me but they did not like my skill level for the particular role I was supposed to execute. So what happened? The opportunity passed by. But did I give up then? No. I kept learning and training myself more and more. I didn’t give up on the dream of working for a dream-company like Boeing. And it paid off, but almost a year from the initial interview. I was finally given the opportunity to work for one of my dream-companies.
Now, what do you think happened there? Why was I given the role later? The reason is simple and it’s right there. It’s because |

The Secret of Growth-How to get Compensated more

The other day, during one of my regular visits to my retail stores, I happened to give a small pep talk to my boys at the shop. The boys found it very valuable and insightful, so I guess I might as well share it with you. So what did I tell them during that pep talk that left my team feeling inspired? I asked them, “Why is it that you, working as a technician, working in a hot and humid environment, and physically involved in hard manual labor, get paid so low compared to a manager who sits in an air-conditioned environment with no physical labor to his credit?” The answer that I got was, ‘Because the manager is more educated than us’, ‘Because the manager manages the whole show’, ‘Because the manager makes decisions’, etc. Now, let me ask YOU the same question. What is your answer?

How to get the world to respond to you – A Facebook Lesson

Let me be frank with you. I’ve never liked facebook as much as I’ve hoped to. Even though it’s seems so much fun, I never got to be comfortable with it. Honestly, I couldn’t figure out why it didn’t suit me. But that’s until recently. Today I know exactly why I couldn’t sync with facebook, and I am taking corrective actions to make things right. So what was it about facebook and me that didn’t gel? It was this - I felt I am posting valuable content, but I was not getting anybody to respond to it. Very few, if at all, used to comment or like my content, and these were from friends that I am already acquainted with. But when I used to see other people getting a ton of comments, I used to unconsciously feel envious and used to ask myself as to what’s got so many people participating in that topic? Yes, I did get the answer; and from...

Online Entrepreneur – Opportunity to embrace the new trend

The last business that I failed in was in the holiday and tourism industry. I had partnered with 2 other friends in selling timeshare packages to the market. The money seemed good, the business plan was drawn out and we got on with the game. However, the economic downturn hit and out went the sales. No one was interested in buying up vacation packages when all they had on their mind was survival. You can say ‘Wrong timing’ or ‘Ignorance of Economic Trends’ was the cause of the downfall. It did cost me a bit of money – office rent, office furniture and fixtures, brochure design and printing, etc. And that’s when I went broke the second time in my life!

Time Management Tips for Entrepreneurs – How to boost your personal productivity

One of the most common challenges that people face, especially entrepreneurs, is to effectively manage their time. In this information age, there is too much information to sift through and if you let the information control you then you will feel overwhelmed and under-achieve. So what does one have to do to improve their personal productivity? Several ideas have been proposed and here I would like to summarize all the points into 4 main points. So let’s get started.

How to eliminate Poverty – Lesson from the Parable of the Talents

| In the bible, Jesus talks about the parable of the talents, wherein the person who multiplied his portion of the money was given more and the one who hoarded it lost even that. The same is EXACTLY true in real life. People who adopted and applied this philosophy multiplied their resources and became rich, and the ones who did not remained poor. I am of the opinion that we everyone of planet earth could apply this philosophy then there wouldn’t be any poverty at all, which in turn will lead to more harmony, less crime and more peace.
So if there was a PRACTICAL way for the masses to apply the philosophy, people would be must better off financially. This article will show you exactly what you need to do to apply this teaching. |

There is no such thing as ‘Free Money Online’

Kindly note that I said ‘earn it’.

Meaning of Wisdom – It’s a 3-step process

Albert Einstein once said, “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it”. In order to truly understand what he meant you have know the true meaning of wisdom. Over the years I have been harboring the wrong notion on wisdom. I was under the impression that knowledge is wisdom. And I am sure that there are millions of others who think the same way. Thanks to Dr. Myles Munroe, I got the true meaning of wisdom the other day. I felt so enlightened and free at this newfound knowledge. And I am sure you the reader will find it same too.

The Pursuit of Fast and Easy money – A road to disaster

Daegen had walked to the nearest grocery store at around midnight to buy himself a Gatorade. When in queue the person behind him tapped his shoulder and asked for a $1. Daegen asked him what he needed the money for. The stranger started off by telling that he did not have any money and that he had just got out of prison and did not have a job. Daegen, out of curiosity, asked him why he went to jail in the first place? The stranger said that he used to run cocaine from city to another and that he got caught. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. As if things were not bad, around the 8th year an inmate...

How to Choose the Right Executive Coach - 8 Keys to a Good Fit

| In times of recession, companies must do more with less. Providing executive coaches to high-potential performers is one way to get the most out of untapped talent.
Willingness to be coached and a good fit are two of the key ingredients for a successful coaching relationship. Companies should consider two basic hiring rules when hiring a coach:
1. Ensure executives are ready and willing to be coached.
2. Allow leaders to choose the coach

Man always rises to meet up to his expectations

When I took over the management of a chain of retail stores in the auto-service industry, one of the biggest challenges that I faced was the incompetency of the staff. Two points stood out very strongly: a) Whoever I asked, had a bad opinion about the non-performers and b) The so-called non-performers were actually not producing results. “Obviously!” you might think. How can you expect non-performers to produce results? Well, that’s what I thought too, at least initially.

Life Success Tip – Be wary who you listen to

I experienced an enlightening moment the other day. I received an email from a gentleman asking me to explain what can I offer him that my business system cannot. Even though it seems like a straightforward question, it is not. I thought about it for a while, before I responded to it. The answer is something very simple, but very deep if you actually go to look at it. From the outside, it would seem silly and weightless, but from the inside it has the makings of a solid foundation. So what was my answer to that question? Before I tell you that, let me relate a true-life story, which I heard from Les Brown, America’s foremost motivational speaker.

If you go through life being Casual, you will become a Casualty

| Man, for some reason, even though he knows the consequences for certain actions, ends up doing it nevertheless. Man’s indifference towards himself has been one of the biggest banes to the society he lives in. Let me give you an example.
Yesterday, I had my broadband connection disabled by the telecom company because of non-payment of dues. The line that I am using is registered under my friend’s name, and as per our deal my friend is supposed to pay the monthly dues. But he failed to do so, 3 months in a row, resulting in me suffering from the loss of connectivity. The problem is... |

Man always achieves the goal that he sets for himself. Always.

I have always been a person who keeps hopping around from one hobby to another. For some time I was crazy about learning how to play the guitar. And I learnt it. Then I was crazy about setting up aquariums. And I ended up with 2 of them in my house. For some time it was angling, and I spent lots of money and time indulging in it. Then I fell for flight simulators. And I learnt it inside out in much detail. Photography came up next. And I went into great detail in that too. Fitness and muscle was another of my hobbies. And I spent some time on that too. These are just to name a few. This attitude towards life made people give me the ‘What’s new?’ today kind of look. I was branded as the guy who never sticks to one thing and keeps jumping around. And it was not a good thing.

How to change a habit

If you were a driver, then you would relate easily to this regular occurrence that all drivers have come to experience at some point in time. Many times I have noticed to my amazement that whenever I am on the phone (hands-free, of course), while driving a frequented route, I end up reaching my destination without even realizing it. All I remember is that I got on the phone and now I am parked at the destination. It’s miraculous how your brain takes complete control of where you are going without any conscious effort from your side, provided it’s a frequented or regular route. I want you to re-read the last part of the sentence ‘provided it’s a frequented or regular route’. You know why this happens? If you can truly understand the ‘why’, you will end up having the answer to most of life’s mysteries.

Logic doesn’t change Emotion, Action does!

One of the greatest challenges that entrepreneurs face is to get back in the groove, after a long break. I call it the ‘derailed’ disease. It’s similar to an employee feeling the Monday blues. I am a frequent victim of this disease. Earlier in my life this was the reason for me to quit many projects halfway through. I just didn’t know how to get back on track. I used to justify that this is God’s will and I can’t change it. The problem was that I was using Logic to fight it, which I found out to be the wrong thing to lead with.

Success principle: Treat everybody respectfully

One of the key principle of leadership and success is not just to be content with being capable for helping yourself, but by being capable to get others to help you as well. Many people lack in the latter part. As it’s said, the best way to get to the top is not to climb up the ladder; but to let others push you to the top. Now how does one do that?

How to write journal entries – The 3 must-ask questions

I am a big fan of Jim Rohn and Tony Robbins. One of the things that they both share in common is the habit of maintaining a journal. And what is the purpose of writing a journal? To jot down the lessons that life has taught you and how you contributed to your day. That’s why. As it’s said, ‘If life is worth living, then it’s worth recording’. But one of the more common challenges that people face is about what to write in the journal. I have been a victim of this disease, until recently. I learnt this very valuable lesson from Tony Robbins, which I am about to share with you.

Trust – The glue that holds a team together

Mistakes can be forgiven and forgotten, but what about betrayal? I think it can be forgiven but not forgotten. Why do you think that is? It is because of the key difference between the two. The former is not done intentionally (otherwise it would be called sabotage) and the latter is. It’s because of this it cannot be forgotten. And worst thing of all, you don’t get a second chance. Ask Judas if you doubt that.

Never compete with anybody else; but yourself

| I have some major disagreements with our current school system, especially because of the culture of competing against one another. We are pitched against our classmates to evaluate who is better than the other. And since only 1 can be the winner, we develop 99 losers. So then, why are we surprised when 1% of the population earns more money the 99%? So then, why are we surprised that 99% of the world is poor? Isn’t it hypocrisy?
Whereas, you ask anybody who has made a difference in our society as to what they owe their success to. Invariably it comes to the fact that these people competed with themselves, and not others. They wanted to be better than their previous best. They wanted to beat their previous performance. And that is the key to success. |

Sales Manager Training: Rule #1 Self Awareness

| I have decided to write a series of Blogs on a sales manager named Joe. Joe is a district sales manager who could work in any industry and for any company. In fact, there are many Joe’s in all companies. Joe is just a shade away from being a great manager. But until he truly understands the fundamentals of changing behavior he will be an average Joe at best.
Joe is one of the members of a group learning session that I give to sales managers who have taken my course.
As part of the coaching process I ask for feedback from managers. I question how well they apply the concepts that they had learned and if they are seeing the benefits of the training
