Taglines, a misused and misunderstood marketing tool
Pity the poor tagline. Dismissed as a mere slogan, hampered by a boring turn of phrase, ignored by “serious” business people. It’s a wonder an honest, effective tagline even gets up in the morning.

A.S.A.P. Branding Part III: Why Every Brand Needs an Adjective
You may be wondering why, as my headline states, every brand platform needs an adjective. By this I mean every brand needs to own a word in the mind of consumers. Why? Let me illustrate with peanut butter - Jif peanut butter, to be specific. For decades, television ads for the Jif brand ended with the tagline, Choosy Mothers Choose Jif. Obviously, the branding strategists behind Jif hoped to associate this word choosy with their peanut butter. (Notice how superior product quality is implied, not stated, through use of the folksy term, choosy.) Today, Jifs tagline remains virtually unchanged. Talk about a successful branding strategy: Jif has been the leading peanut butter brand in the United States for over 27 years.

Calvin Klein Ads
If there is one thing Calvin Klein ads are known for it is pushing the boundaries of what is considered socially acceptable. Ever since 1980, when the company placed 15 year old Brooke Shields on one its ads, with the tagline Nothing comes between me and my Calvins, Klein has been pushing the advertising envelope. From there, he began mounting giant billboards in the middle of New York Citys Times Square that featured buff male models with nothing on but their white CK briefs, and using childlike models, such as Kate Moss, to help sell his Obsession perfume.

When women leave the workplace
Many women who leave the workplace to raise children become isolated and depressed. As you might have read in my article in Reader's Digest, my friend Jennifer is different. She realized that having a community, preserving her relationships, and making new friends was going to be as important to her happiness at home as it was to her success at work. And she is rocking!

When is the Right Time to Rebrand?
Rebranding is much like the caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly evolution. After time in a cocoon your business has matured, your competitive advantage is becoming apparent, you know who your favourite clients are the ones you want more of. Once youve been in business long enough and have some experience under your belt, you can seriously tackle your competitive advantage. From these experiences, processes and case studies you can draw a true differentiator. How you do what you say makes you different, often becomes what makes you different. If you figure this out, it should become the basis of all your messaging and marketing tools.

Managing and marketing your store, on-line, in internet age
Most of my customer asks me for easy and fastest way of managing the process of marketing their products on web or through their web-store. They find it as challenging as managing a retail store. To some it is like managing two stores. On-line and off-line. First of all, let us understand that a web-site or a web-store is a visual medium to connect your audience (customers). It gives an overall impression of your retail business. Your web must look clean, tidy, professionally designed and updated. In addition to that, it must be straight forward and clearly communicate the message to the visitors.

Remember My Company?
Weve all been to a party where we remember someones face, but not their name. Or their name, but not their story. Or their story but not what they look like. We even have language for it (good with faces, etc.).

Use Your Email Signature
There are many branding opportunities that small businesses can and should be taking advantage of, the email signature is one of them. An email signature doesn't cost any money to setup, and it is a small, but important part of a professional image, and a professional brand. Every business email account should have a professional email signature associated with it. It's easy to make one, and it will remind your email recipients of the fact that you're in business every time you email them.

About a month ago, Staples and Angus Reid released their latest STAPLES Canada Small Business National Quarterly Index. Chances are you are a little tight for cash, so here are ten low-cost ways to market better that weve worked out with help from Joanna L. Krotz, co-author of the Microsoft Small Business Kit.

Taglines Passe? Try Six-Word Memoirs.
I recently listened to an interview by Larry Smith and Rachel Fershleiser (who compiled Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure) on National Public Radio. The basis of their compilations was the legend that when asked to write a six-word novel, novelist Ernest Hemingway responded: For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.

Earning Quick Cash From Ebay Step Two How To Grow Your Ebay Business And Succeed
Earning quick cash on Ebay is simple. You open a PayPal account and then ransack your homedon't forget basement, attics, garages and junk drawers and closets--and sell all those extraneous possessions... i.e cool but useless stuff that suddenly seems less important now that you don't have a job...or your stock market portfolio has severely devalued or disappeared overnight. The Most Bizarre Old School Sales Rule EVER
I had a friend years ago give me some very bad advice (thank goodness I didn't pay attention to it) "Kim, when you're first in business - no matter what they ask for - say YES." I think that is a bizarre recipe for disaster. It is also the Old School Rule of Selling that is out-dated, WRONG and definitely NOT for you!
