The Sales Management Equivalent to Baseball's Pitch Count
| |
| One friend suggested I find a way to correlate pitch count to sales.
No problem.
I am not a proponent of a sales manager doing the closing for his salespeople, however, should a two-call close cycle be on its fourth call; a six month sales cycle be in its tenth month, an exception is certainly called for. Or, if you consider a salesperson who is expected to perform certain levels of activity, who isn't meeting expectations, another exception might be called for. |

Thinking of buying or selling your business in the New Year, how is your Performance Plan?
| |
| This article is the tenth in a set of 13 articles that collectively talks about 12 different plans to manage and operate a business. Why so much planning? Many business owners operate their business with the idea to earn as much as they can and pay as little tax as possible. This means selling the business is only considered when the owner is worn out and no longer has the motivation to maximize the performance and therefore purchase price they will receive. However, if this series of plans were recognized and executed on a consistent basis, not only would the business be available to sell as it’s in its best condition, but also allow the business owner an easier and more positive environment in which to own and operate the business; to be benefit to employees, suppliers, lenders and of course, the owner. |

The Problems with Change Projects
| |
| It was recently reported by HR Magazine, that “Barely a tenth of change projects seen as fully successful, according to Moorhouse study” In as much as change as for quite some time been very much a part of corporate live, the findings of the report are sadly unsurprising. The real surprise is that it is reported as news.
From a Machiavellian viewport, “There is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, nor more dangerous to manage than the creation of a new system. For the initiator has the enmity of all who would profit by the preservation of the old institutions, and merely lukewarm defenders in those who should gain by the new one”. |
