Posting relevant comments on blogs is networking
I happen to think that many small business folks would find networking on the web as valuable as networking at, say, the next Chamber event. There are many ways to do networking on the web but I happen to think one of the easiest is to participate in blogs you enjoy by frequently posting relevant content. Blog comment posting is very much like standing around chatting with a group of folks at a networking event (except you don’t have to balance the Swedish meatball plate on your wine glass.)

Can This Networking Group Help Me Build My Business?
So many of my clients tell me they go to a networking meeting or two but give up because nothing happens. My response is usually that you must give the group a fair trial. Building relationships takes time so you will need to attend a few meetings of one organization to see any progress. That said however some organizations may just be wrong for you and the sooner you decide that the less time you will waste and the faster you can move on to a group that will work for you. Here are some questions to ask yourself in order to evaluate the group.

Keeping Web Sites Busy, Safe, Profitable
You can't turn a virtual page today without reading, watching something about social media. It sets your heart to twittering (excuse the pun). But from a business' perspective what is its goal? Right! We want you to visit the website, check the products/services, buy something, recommend us to others...lots of others. The problem often is that the website is in total disarray, less than helpful to the visitor because people are having too much fun with their Facebook page, their Twits. People come but they escape as quickly as possible! Here are some hints (easy, honest hints) that can improve, enhance the value of the website for the visitor.

Herd Mentality
Booths featuring products and services related to employee engagement, web-based delivery, global performance, and talent management were overflowing with conference attendees as I walked the trade show at a national conference where I was speaking. Just a few years ago the magnets were initiatives like total quality management, six sigma, diversity, work-life-balance, and customer driven.

Ten More Important “Lessons Learned” For Leaders, According To Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach
Building upon another article I wrote on important lessons learned for leaders, I thought about additional important “lessons learned” for leaders that could be shared. The potential reward and return on efforts related to the strategic action to identify the “lessons learned” from our experiences merits additional thought. I found another great quote to share to confirm the value and importance of the “lessons learned” approach. The following is a quote from John Keats. “Don't be discouraged by a failure. It can be a positive experience. Failure is, in a sense, the highway to success, inasmuch as every discovery of what is false leads us to seek earnestly after what is true, and every fresh experience points out some form of error which we shall afterwards carefully avoid. Here are 10 more important "lessons learned" for leaders.

How To Think Like A Leader
The thought process of a leader is different from that of followers. Sure, leaders are usually very smart and have access to plenty of specialized knowledge and experience to help them make decisions; but these characteristics are not what make leaders “different” thinkers. What makes leaders different is their ability to think critically in leadership situations. Critical thinking is the key. So how does one go about thinking critically to make the right choices in leadership situations?

Do you have the coourage to be a thought leader?
Thought leaders need to be brave - brave with their thoughts, brave with how they put them out there and brave enough to stand up and defend them if necessary. Dumb is Smart and Smart is Dumb
Leaders have a propensity to share their thoughts too early in conversations, especially when there is a decision to be made. Being forthright and decisive are qualities that are generally thought to be advantageous. I think speaking too soon is often a mistake. In many situations, it is better to act a little dumb and let others voice their opinions before weighing in and cutting off creative discussion. Many leaders have a tough time doing this. This article describes the problem and gives an antidote.

Leadership with a Small "L"
