When Hall first moved to Kansas City in 1910, he had no grand thoughts of becoming a millionaire or even creating a company of any significant success. All he wanted to do was make a living, and he thought Kansas City was the perfect place for a hard-working young man to do just that.

Lesson #4: Take Control

“I don't like formal gardens,” said Disney. “I like wild nature. It's just the wilderness instinct in me, I guess." Despite his apparent disregard for structure, Disney was a hands-on entrepreneur, who enjoyed taking control over all aspects of his company. While it was in part personality-driven, Disney’s hands-on nature was also due to a lesson he learned the hard way early on in his career.

Lesson #2: Do It Yourself

“I love my product,” said Lauder. “I love to touch the creams, smell them, look at them, carry them with me. A person has to love her harvest if she’s to expect others to love it.” Because of Lauder’s love for her company, she took a very hands-on approach to its operations, getting her hands dirty in everything from production to marketing to sales. She understood the importance of hiring a good team, but her desire for perfection and quality drove her to want to control all aspects of her company, at least until it got too big for her to handle alone.

Faith and Business Values: A Perfect Match

As Christian businessmen and women our hands are not tied if we integrate our faith into our business. On the contrary, we have an extra set of hands to lead us and guide us. Not only can we integrate our faith and our business, but we can show the world that as Christians we can have unwavering strength and limitless compassion simultaneously and seamlessly. And as is true with God in all things, He is faithful. As I have personally followed what scripture shares with us about leadership and business, I have seen the wisdom of His ways and seen success achieved. My business has been profitable since day 1. God’s vision for my business has stayed consistent and developed over time adding strategies and tactics along the way. My business has skipped the roller coaster that I see in client business of constantly changing focus and vision.

Truck Drivers --- Some of our Best Sales People

| I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say exactly that --- "Our Truck Drivers are some of our Best Sales People." In fact, I often made that statement myself when I ran my own Steel Processing Distribution Center. During seminars and association meetings I still often hear CEO's and other executives make that comment over and over again. But ------ When I ask for a show of hands as to how many people actually train their truck drivers on sales techniques very few hands go up.

Do It Now!

Recently I spoke with someone whose mother just died. During our conversation, I asked how his father was doing. He said, "My dad is doing amazingly well under the circumstances. Mom was not well for a long time, and Dad stayed by her side every day. He has lived each day with no regrets." If someone you loved were to die tomorrow, could you say the same thing? You CAN'T turn back the hands of time. You CAN live your life so that there's no unfinished business at the end of each day. Never put off something important for tomorrow if you can do it today. Take some time now to identify what you can DO OR BEGIN TODAY that will enable you to live a life with no regrets down the road.
