Is Your Company Committed to Their Long Standing Traditions?
Are you a second or even third generation business owner? The generations before you made the sacrifices and did whatever was necessary to build the fundamentals of the business you are running today. Have the traditions, ideals, and values your business was built on survived the passing of the baton? Many companies have discarded these fundamentals as a cost cutting measure or because they seem antiquated. These traditions were the basis for the growth and survival of the “family business” yet they wind up on the committee “cutting room floor”. Nothing is more apparent than changes made to the core values of employee and customer satisfaction.

Happy New Year!
New years’ resolutions are both a blessing and a curse. Sometimes they actually help us make some valuable changes. More often than not though I see them as an obligatory annual event. If you don’t have them (and tell everyone all about them), something is wrong with you. How about making use of the other 364 days in the year? Improvement and change should be an on-going effort!

‘Great’ at sales but they don’t ‘fit’ the culture
Sound familiar? A ‘good', maybe even ‘great', salesperson is recruited and hits the ground running, kicking sales goals in the new role, however within a short space of time they have alienated their team, decided that the role is not for them, and left the organisation. As we know the cost of this selection is huge and begs the question, why did this ‘great' salesperson not work out? While there are many possible scenarios and reasons, we often find that a major contributor is the cultural ‘fit' between the individual and the organisation.

We must step outside our Comfort Zone in order to succeed
When we decide to become an entrepreneur we must change our mindset and habits from our previous employment in order to succeed and this often involves performing tasks and actions that are outside our comfort zone. This article gives an insight into this process.

Workplace Culture
Quite simply good workplace culture can be fostered by many things. But there are some that need to be top of mind when you are looking to either improve or establish yours. Naturally this needs to be implemented at the Board and Executive Team level initially to enhance a buy-in from all team members. What is significant is what you as the leadership team emanate regarding Company beliefs and traditions, as the team will naturally reflect that out in the marketplace. Another useful strategy for you to consider when building your workplace culture, is to recruit like-minded people who share the same vision you have for the company. By bringing people on board that are as passionate about what they do as you are, you ensure the creation of a strong culture right from the beginning of the Company's existence. That dog won’t hunt
Here we are at the end of March already. I was talking with a friend the other day about an old farmer’s adage we used to anticipate in March regarding the weather: “In like a lamb, out like a lion.” Or “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” The expectation was that if we had harsh winter weather at the beginning of March we would have mild weather at the end – and vice versa. I have no idea why that is expected but it reminds me of all the little clichés that we accept as reality. As farmers we also used to cite, “Red in the morning, sailors warning; red at night, sailors delight.”

Lesson #3: Management Means To Inspire Creativity
“From a management standpoint, it is very important to know how to unleash people's inborn creativity,” said Morita. “My concept is that anybody has creative ability, but very few people know how to use it.” Morita created one of the world’s largest multinational corporations but he did not do it alone. Indeed, over his fifty-year career, Morita became one of the most outspoken businessmen for sound management principles, of which his were largely based on Japanese traditions.

The People Advantage of Being High Tech
It is a strange anomaly that in this modern technological age, many firms remain firmly entrenched in traditional work practices, requiring employees to be present in an office environment where they are ‘visible’ at all times. It is this ‘mistrust’ that many employers hold regarding home-based workers ‘skiving’ if they cannot be seen that holds back many such companies. Such employers miss out on a wealth of knowledge, skills and experience by sticking to these traditions as more and more employees gravitate towards companies that do offer a more beneficial work-life balance. A company that takes advantage of todays technology opens up a whole new avenue of opportunity

What Are You Like at Growing People?
Too many managers are still using 20th century traditions for 21st century staff development. The result? Rapid staff turnover, excessive absenteeism and staff conflicts. We need new ways to look at old problems. People are a part of nature, so what can we learn from growing plants?

We Are All Stewards on Spaceship Earth
Science is confirming what wisdom traditions have pointed to for thousands of years: that everything around us is part of a living universe, and that we are only stewards of whatever we think we “own.” As the old economy of fear and greed is crumbling, a new economy of partnership is being born. Many network marketing leaders are front-runners in this global shift.

Home Based Business Franchise Review: MLM v Top Tier
The home based business franchise industry is teeming with offers. Daily, 'too good to be true' offers seem to bombard us every hour. The 'traditions' of both MLM and direct sales are quickly becoming archaic due to the emergence of 'Top Tier'.

Some Holiday Traditions and a great Christmas Bread to Try Out
Most everyone who celebrates Christmas or other holidays around this time of year have traditions they preserve. If you have small children in the home, it is never too late to start celebrating traditions no matter how big or small they may seem to you. For your children who are already overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the season, taking out some quality time as a family to decorate, bake, sing or any other number of things can make the season even more important to your children. My holidays are better because of my son, my dog, Mo, friends, family and this gift from God: Cattle on 1000 Hills. You will not find me on this site as I have enlisted the help of a friend to share his phenomenal story.

Travel Consultant – Do You Have What It Takes To Be One?
The travel consultant needs to be well-traveled and well-read. He should have a deep understanding of the cultures and traditions of various places. He should be aware of the visa rules and exchange rates. He must have intimate knowledge of the public transport and should be able to suggest a different type of stay for each budget. He would have to be up-to-date on the traffic conditions, the weather details, holidays, etc to plan the client's trip.

The Perfect Storm
January 1st, 2008 came and went as any typical new year's day. People celebrated the New Year in a vast array of traditions around the world. The hope of a brand new year brought promise of great things to come. Organizational leaders, captains of industry, managers and entrepreneurs all joined the celebration as they have in past years. There were no headlines of concern, no alarms in the corporate conference room and no big fuss about the pending storm of change that would besiege most organizations for years to come. People simply did not notice or even acknowledge the magnitude of change that day would bring to most organizations in the United States.
