Awakening The Entrepreneur Within You
| |
| There is a commonly held belief that one becomes an entrepreneur by going into business, or going out on one’s own. I don’t subscribe to that belief.

The Magic and Tragic Words of Marketing
| |
| Magic words propel great ideas towards profitability. Tragic words doom great ideas to failure. Guerrillas know the difference. |

Courageous Conversations
| |
| For the purpose of leadership, courage is defined as a reconciliation of the consequences of failure. A courageous conversation is then the interaction between people when the leader has defined the consequences of failure and is alright with those potential risks. |

Are You Doing the Moon Walk --- Going Backwards While Moving Forward
| |
| The death of Michael Jackson recently was a tragic event. No matter what you thought of Michael personally, there is no doubt that he was one of the most talented entertainers of all time. His singing and dancing talent showcased so effectively by his performance in the video and album “Thriller” will be remembered forever as the Capstone of his career. I, like millions of his fans, mourn his passing.
However, the one thing that I remember the most is his invention of the “Moonwalk”. The “Moon Walk” is a dance move that looks as if you are going forward when in reality you are moving backward. Michael made that move famous. His tragic sorrowful death reminded me of that move. The Moon Walk itself brings to mind how many businesses often struggle to achieve success; doing things that are supposed to gain market share and create success. |

No Time........Really??
| |
| I love to pay attention to the language I use and also the words my clients choose. Being aware of our own language provides a window into where we may have blind spots, fears or beliefs standing in our way.
I often catch my clients using the phrase, “I just don’t have time.” It’s a sentence that suggests that we have no power over how we spend our time. And the truth is, we do. Certainly there can be negative consequences to choosing to spend our time in one way over another. And avoiding those negative consequences can drive our choices, but, at the end of the day, we are choosing! |

Big Bird’s Guide to Change Management - Learn your A, B, C, Ds
| |
| In the 1950s, psychologist Albert Ellis introduced Rational Therapy in which people were taught the A-B-C-D approach for dealing with uncomfortable situations. The A-B-C-D approach states that when a person is confronted with an adversity A, their beliefs B, will influence the way they respond to that adversity and lead to emotional and behavioral consequences C.
If the beliefs B, are rigid, absolute, and unrealistic, the consequences C, will likely be self-defeating and destructive. If the beliefs B, are flexible and constructive, the consequences C, will likely be self-helping and constructive. People can change their lives and their consequences by D, disputing and challenging their beliefs. |

Guerrilla marketing erects monuments to follow-up, honors it, and practices it.
| |
| But effective follow-up is a rarity among small businesses. It pains me to know that over 60% of leads--leads that took a lot of time, energy, imagination and information to generate--will slip through the cracks. What's even more tragic is that a stunning 68 percent of the leads that convert into customers will be ultimately lost after the sale due to poor follow-up. |

Motivation, The Heart of Self Improvement
| |
| Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves. |

You Have The Right To Choose Happiness

| The recent tragic death of the very talented Whitney Houston got me thinking about how so many of us are unaware that we are all born to be happy and are tuned into the dark and difficult aspects of life, remaining blind to our innate beauty |
