The Influential Leader
Leadership has traditionally been defined as getting people to follow your vision. However, in today’s mega-matrixed world, leaders often do not have directly authority over those they need to realize their vision. Today’s leader must frequently lead through influence – a more subtle yet powerful approach to getting things done. One of the most important aspects of influencing others is spreading and soliciting new ideas.

THE GREATEST PUBLIC RELATIONS DISASTER EVER
The so-called "McLibel trial" was an infamous British court case involving libel, with important implications for public relations professionals and company managements.

Lesson #4: Try Something New
“Don’t be afraid of the trial-and-error approach,” wrote Lauder in her 1985 autobiography as a piece of advice to would-be entrepreneurs. “Trust your instincts…create your own style.”

Networking Works!
Eek. The dreadful Jury Duty Summons arrives in the mail again. I’m all for the jury system, mind you, but those of us who aren’t on corporate payrolls don’t get a paycheck during the time we serve. Oh, well, “one day or one trial” isn’t so bad. I am ready to do my civic duty. I believe in our government and the trial-by-jury-of-our-peers system. If a case of mine were being tried, wouldn’t I want me to be on the jury? My mood improved, I call in on the appointed day and receive instructions to show up Monday..

6 Quick Tips to Make Your Copy More Believable
Believability above a certain point makes sales; below that point it does not. Ad copy must make what lawyers call "a prima facie case" -- that is, a case that warrants a trial in court. Only the court is the consumer, and the trial is buying and using the goods.

The Art of Memorable Speaking
If you want your audience to retain your message, you’d better make sure you frame it in a memorable way. Here are a few of the principles I’ve discovered, often through trial and error, during my years of public speaking.

Sometimes the most common Promotional Products can be the most effective
Most companies are always pushing to do something new and different from their competitors and we find that many of our clients approach us for new and innovative promotional products. If the campaign suits a new and unique product then that it what we will definitely recommend. However, sometimes the most basic and 'boring' promotional products may be the most effective. Let's take Custom Printed Balloons as an example.

Are Macs and Wal-Marts a good match?

Apparently, there are plans afoot for Wal-Mart to sell Macs, as well as iPhones and iPods, in at least some of their stores. I'm not sure that's a good idea, but it's worth pursuing, at least on a trial basis.

Trial your adverts
If you advertise your business then you must trial your adverts and test to see which ones work the best for you. By trialling your adverts you should agree on a design and more importantly the content of your advert and run each one for around a month at a time. At the end of each month change the advert to a different design and/or different content and so on. When you are testing your adverts you must make sure you take your marketing calendar data into account too. At then end of each trial make a note of how many enquiries each advert received and of those enquiries that went on to converted into clients. As you collate this data you will begin to build a picture of which adverts work the best for you and use the ones that produce the most responses.

Build Your Health To Build Your Wealth
America - and much of the rest of the world - is overweight. My home state of Colorado is perenially the "least overweight" U.S. state according to surveys, but that moniker itself is indicative of the trend... we used to call it the "most lean" or "most fit" state. People move here to take advantage of the outstanding climate and outdoor opportunities, so there are thousands of fit-as-a-fiddle Coloradans. But you can still go to any store in the cities and see grossly-fat people who seem to have blown up like balloons....

Grateful Thoughts on Business
We are nearing the end of a year that has been obviously challenging for most of us, including even the most ambitious small business owners and entrepreneurs. Eleven months ago I was brimming with hope that my business would sprout new wings and land on higher plateaus. The year turned out to be less than sparkling in many ways as some of the dream balloons turned out to be heavier than air! But the holiday season beginning with Thanksgiving is my favorite time to absorb the past year’s lessons and top up the hope reservoir for the year ahead. We should all devote significant time to listing the things we are grateful for, from the most basic to the most fanciful.
