The Strategic Importance of Trust In Business, According To Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach
| |
| In the world of business today, trust is more important than ever, especially when it comes to your relationships with your clients, customers, employees, and all stakeholders in your business. But what do we mean by “trust.” Webster’s dictionary defines trust as the “assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something.” Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach believes that trust is right at the foundation of the survival and success of any business. Without trust there can be no sustainable business. Trust is a strategically critical issue in any type of relationship because a relationship without trust is not really a relationship at all. There are several levels of trust and I have chosen five (5) to present in this article.? |

Innovative Home-Based Business - Teaching Babies Sign Language
| |
| You’re on the phone with the babysitter, frantic not knowing why your baby is crying. She’s tried everything that she should have but nothing seems to calm your baby. You start to panic thinking maybe he’s sick, but she insists that she checked and your baby just seems to be unhappy. Your heart drops to the ground as you wonder what could be bothering your precious angel. Your secretary comes in and announces an emergency meeting, so without finishing your conquest to cure the baby blues you're forced to hang up with the sitter. With a guilt stricken conscience and a heavy heart, you try to pay attention to the meeting. But you can’t help thinking how much better life would be as a stay-at-home mom. |

Old Mutual and South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Launch $12.9m Microfinance Initiative, Isivande Women’s Fund (IWF)
| |
| The Department of Trade and Industry of South Africa has teamed with Old Mutual Group’s Masisizane Fund to launch the Isivande Women’s Fund (IWF), financing women-run enterprises in the country. The new fund is the result of a 2006 study conducted by the DTI’s Gender and Women Empowerment Unit, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and FinMark. The study found that although women are more responsible managers of credit than men, they only receive 30 percent of loans, with black women receiving the least funding. |

A Matter of Trust
| |
| Trust is the basis for all successful leaders and all successful relationships for that matter. You cannot buy trust, but it is free. Trust is priceless yet can be earned over time. Have you ever tried to request someone’s trust? Maybe it was a team member, customer or a colleague. You may have wanted a decision to be made in your favor. To overcome some initial disagreement and expedite the decision making process, you might resort to “Hey, just trust me!” That statement is worthless. Either the other party already trusted you based on your past actions or they did not trust you and your request won’t change that. Trust is not spoken, it is demonstrated. Trust cannot be requested, it must be earned.

The Two Key Components to Living with Tenacity
| |
| Tenacity is a key component to success. We must have it to reach our goals. It’s the fuel that keeps us moving through the inevitable challenges. But how often do we take the time to stop and think about what tenacity really is? Let’s spend a minute to figure out what tenacity looks like and how we can create it to use to our advantage.
When I’m working with clients I often use the analogy of getting your screaming baby strapped into a car seat to illustrate tenacity. Because, if you have kids, you have experienced tenacity! When you are putting your child in their car seat your purpose is to make your baby safe. Your baby hates to feel confined and wants nothing to do with it. You can not reason with a baby or explain your logic so you must just make it happen. |

Ten Hallmarks of a High Trust Organization
| |
| We tend to think of trust in one dimension, but there are several different ways trust plays out in organizations.
My favorite definition of trust is that when I trust someone, it means I believe he or she will always do what is thought to be in my best interest (even if I do not particularly appreciate it at the time).
We can contrast some dimensions of trust by considering what it is like to work in an organization with high trust versus one with low trust on several dimensions

Degrees of Trust
| |
| Trust is an interesting word. We tend to think of it as a singular concept, like how much do I trust my boss at the moment. I believe there are numerous different types of trust in our lives, and in any trust situation, there are infinite levels of trust. That complexity is one of the reasons why high trust is hard to find in many organizations.

Hoping For A Meaningful Change
| |
| Babies are helpless little critters who need their forebears to take care of every aspect of their lives. Mom and Dad need to feed the baby, clothe the baby, bathe the baby, shelter the baby, teach the baby, and save money so they can educate the baby and help the baby get a good start in life. And regularly, when the baby (who can't do ANY of this for himself) gets stinky, he needs Mom and Dad to change his smelly pants.... |
