The Business Virgin: Branson Enters The Game
| |
| With his magazine failing him, Branson turned to the idea of setting up a record mail order business in 1970. At just 20 years old, Branson began placing record ads in Student and soon began to realize the high demand. He dropped out of high school and began focusing on his new business, which was now making a profit. This modest success allowed him to rent an empty shop on Oxford Street in London in order to set up a music store. His magazine staff was transferred to the discount record store and the operation began to take off. At a loss for a name, one of the girls suggested ‘Virgin’ since they were “complete virgins at business”. With that, the Virgin Empire was born. |

Richard Branson Biography
| |
| Much like the public has come to expect the unexpected from this unpredictable British entrepreneur, so too is the Richard Branson biography a story of ups and downs, antics and wild behaviour, and both successes and failures. To learn about this Virgin Knight is to understand more about a man who has refused to follow convention, who has pursued and achieved his dreams his way, and who seems to have had more fun than most along the way. |

Website Marketing Tips - Build It and They Still May Not Come
| |
| Building a web site is no longer a newsworthy event. But having one, even a tricked out one with all the bells and whistles, may be a non-event if you aren’t working hard to raise your site’s visibility in a crowded marketplace.
Website Marketing Tips:
If you don’t have top search engine placement and a strong social media network working on your behalf, you are invisible.
The good news is: It’s never too late to start.
The bad news is: Nothing will happen until you make it happen.

The Basis of Sales Has Remained Stagnant
| |
| Did I get your attention? Good. Because I’m serious.
Most of you would laugh, tell me I’m wrong, that the sales model has been shifting and that the Internet has ‘changed everything.’ But what, exactly, has it changed?
I believe that basically, sales has not changed since the beginning. Sure, the bells and whistles have changed: it’s far, far easier to get leads and interest; it’s much simpler to get your message out; it’s much quicker to find out whatever you need to find out about prospects. It seems to appear as if buyer’s buying decisions are different (they aren’t, we just know more). But all of this leads to… leads to what? |

Leadership Development: FUD to FUN
| |
| The FUD Factor tends to sneak up just around the time of the changing of the seasons. This is where at work you may be falling short of what was projected for the first quarter.
FUD FACTOR: fear, uncertainty and doubt have a way of making the lights dimmer, the tinsel less sparkly, the bells sound tinny, and the gifts not just right. There is a certain need to be perfect, to be disappointed if we come up even just a few inches short of what we think should have happened. We are hard on ourselves; and way too often, we are also hard on those around us. |
