Undiscovered Diamonds for 2008: Finding the Acres of Diamonds in an Evolving Market (Certify Profile)
“For every acre of that old farm, yes, every shovelful, afterward revealed gems which since have decorated the crowns of monarchs.” From Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell

Mining Your Customer Base
In the early 1900's, Reverend Russell Conwell -- founder of Temple University -- gave a popular speech called "Acres of Diamonds." In it, he said: "Your diamonds are not in far distant mountains or in yonder seas. They are in your own backyard if you but dig for them."

Introduction to Self Storage
Self Storage Association Definition: Self Storage facilities are real property designed and used for the purpose of renting or leasing individual storage spaces to tenants who are to have access to such space for the purpose of storing and removing personal property. They offer rental on a month-to-month basis of individual spaces where customers provide their own lock and have sole access to their space. Today’s typical storage facility may comprise several one or two-story buildings on two to 6 acres of land, or a multiple-story building, containing a carefully designed unit mix of spaces. The units typically range in size from 5X5 to 10X30 feet with 30,000 to 120,000 total rentable square feet of space.

The region's forests once absorbed and stored more carbon from the atmosphere than they released. But huge conflagrations -- like the 138,000-acre Hayman Fire in Colorado in 2002 and the Yellowstone fires of 1988, which scorched 1.2 million acres -- combined with a series of severe bark beetle infestations and disease outbreaks, have left large swaths of dead, decomposing trees in almost every major Western forest.

Hey leaders, PAY ATTENTION! This is a great time of year to really take some private time and think about how you want your company and team to work together in the future. So I'd like to tell a personal story. We just had a fabulous holiday party at The Country Place, our retreat center in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Now, we have owned this place for two decades and it is on 400 acres in the midst of nature with tons of trees and a spring fed small lake (or large pond).
