Good Enough Isn't

| One of the biggest frustrations within the corporate learning community is the concept that conscious competence is good enough. In today’s difficult economy the competition for the fewer dollars available puts a premium on skill and what was good enough yesterday has become today’s minimum expectation.
It’s time for the learning community to raise the bar and establish unconscious competence as the new goal of every learning opportunity. This will require the commitment of the corporate decision makers, those who coach the learners and the learners themselves. |

Promotion Panic
| |
| It happens every day in the corporate world, good individual performers are promoted before they are ready to take on a leadership role. And, if these new team leaders, supervisors, and managers receive any leadership development at all, it is a short training class covering operational procedures and the major employment laws. In a poll, one in five business leaders ranked promotion as the most challenging life event they have had to face – more challenging than the death of a loved one, divorce, or moving. This article offers some advice for newly promoted leaders. |

Great Leadership Is Admitting What You Do Not Know and Thus Avoid Becoming A Victim

These individuals understand that life must be challenged and more importantly so must their own performance as they lead themselves and others forward. |

IS SALES TRAINING PASSING ITS SELL-BY DATE?
| |
| As a company who specialises in sales training and development, I've found myself growing increasingly more sceptical towards the real impact of traditional sales training methods. According to Professor George Miller, Harvard University, our conscious minds can only process around 7 chunks of information at any given moment. If this is then related to applying new techniques learned during a training course, then how can salespeople feasibly put into practice loads of new techniques instantly?

How to improve your business presentation skills – part 1
| |
| I used to wonder with awe at those seasoned presenters who seemed to just ‘have the gift’ of being able to stand in front of an audience and effortlessly present their ‘message’ or ‘ideas’...
...In fact, even the world’s top presenters all began their public speaking careers as rank amateurs...
...We all begin new things as incompetents - that is, we ‘don’t know what we don’t know’ |

Strawberries Do Crunch

Slow Down to Speed Up
| |
| When it seems the pace of life speeds up, we generally do what we can to accommodate it (mostly out of habit). And that is probably the worst thing that we can do for ourselves. We're unconscious to what our needs actually are in that moment, and we're expending extra energy to meet a need that is being imposed from an external source. |

Interpersonal Competence
| |
| Interpersonal competence is the fifth key of career and life success. No matter how self confident and how good at creating positive personal impact or how great a performer and dynamic a communicator you are, you will not achieve life success without interpersonal competence. By taking the time to understand yourself and others, build strong relationships and resolve conflict positively you are well on your way to achieving life success. The greatest life success is found by those who truly seek these things. |

| What exactly is a CEO anyway? According to best selling author Warren Bennis in his book, "On Becoming A Leader," he sums it up this way: "All leaders have four essential competencies. Wealth Creating System Step 2 – Understand Your Mind
| |
| Welcome back to my second step in creating wealth and today I want to talk about understanding how your mind works. (please make sure you have read step 1 first). There are only two primary ways we make sense of the world: consciously and unconsciously.
Your conscious mind is the mind that you actively and deliberately think with all day long. The unconscious mind is your larger mind. It can process millions of messages of sensory information every single second and contains all of your wisdom, memories and intelligence.
Until your unconscious mind is programmed towards creating wealth, nothing you learn, know or do will make any difference in the long run. You cannot overcome your unconscious programming with logical arguments or even hard work. |
