OHS Risk Management and Corporate Governance
| |
| In New South Wales, an unauthorised work procedure escaped the attention of management and eventually led to the death of two workers. The unauthorised procedure had been introduced by a supervisor, employed into the business, who had used it in his previous work. It was handed down from the supervisor to other employees. |

2.6 Hazards at work, health and the poverty trap: Working Out of Poverty
| |
| Inadequate housing and food, unsafe water, poor sanitation, hazardous
working conditions and little or no access to health care – all of these contribute
to ill health which is one of the main brakes on poverty-reducing development.
Complications arising from undiagnosed or untreated diseases
prevalent in many low-income countries and especially among rural populations
(such as malaria, tuberculosis, gastro-intestinal disorders, anaemia and
HIV/AIDS), combined with the health consequences of hazardous work,
can be deadly and are certainly debilitating. |

3.7 Tackling work-related health hazards: Working Out of Poverty
| |
| Most workers living in poverty lack basic health and welfare services
and work in an unhealthy and unsafe working environment. For many, their
home and workplace are one and the same place. Vulnerability to disease
and poor health thus result from a combination of poor living and working
conditions. Most workers in the informal economy work in precarious and
unsafe conditions, without sanitary facilities, potable water or proper waste
disposal. Every year, more than 2 million people die of work-related accidents
and diseases. In many developing countries, death rates among workers
are five to six times those in industrialized countries. More than
160 million workers fall ill each year as a result of workplace hazards. The
poorest and least protected – often women, children and migrants – are
among the most affected. |

Work Enjoyment Helps Employee Retention.
| |
| Employee retention is about the nature of the work itself and the work environment/culture.
What can you do?
Firstly, you have to get the basics right - good pay, appropriate conditions, etc.
Secondly, you have to remove the fear of uncertainty - employees should feel safe and secure in their employment. They should not be concerned about your employment practices. They should not picture you 'with a whip'.
Thirdly, you have to work hard to create and maintain a good work culture and climate.

Aligning With Your Prosperity
| |
| I have been asked numerous times, if there are practices that can be done on a daily basis to increase the flow of prosperity. The answer is absolutely!
Now, that said, each one of you is unique. Therefore, I believe, that along the way you personally will find that some practices and guidelines will work better for you than others.
For example, some people are more visual while others are more auditory. That is why I often suggest a combination of tools, such as using verbal affirmations, visualizing and bringing in high attractor feelings. Together they are highly effective.
Let’s begin with several daily keys that I have found work well for most Law of Attraction students and for those who have been on the path for awhile. |

Commitment Based Management
| |
| As we move into this new century, we can look back and see that the very nature of work has changed dramatically in the last 50 years, yet our practices of management are essentially unchanged from WWII. What we have done is add technology to a set of practices that were intended to be effective in a time when mass factory production and agriculture made up 95% of the global economy. Unfortunately these same practices are still standard at business schools and big companies around the word. |

Profit at Any Cost?
| |
| Has the economy pushed us so far, the need for profitability grown so strong, that we are willing to sacrifice customer focus? Are we willing to ignore customer safety to avoid a deeper exploration of our business practice that might impact revenues, or force the recall of an unsafe product? |

What Automotive Technology Can Teach Us About the Sales Process
| |
| Do you remember before all the modern safety features were installed in cars? We didn't miss them or feel unsafe, because you as the saying goes, "you can't miss what you never had." It's much the same with sales forces and formal, structured sales processes, they "don't know what they don't know." |

How To Reduce Channel Conflict - Understanding Industry Best Practices
| |
| Implementing a best practices strategy is an excellent way for a company to examine and continuously improve itself. Nearly all companies today have some benchmarking or best practices initiatives in place. Looking "outside" the organization, companies get ideas through trade associations, outside consulting companies and general industry standards. But, importantly, the company can also look "internally" for best practices that can be leveraged across the organization. |
