Economic Reform Leaves America Unhappy
| |
| If you haven't seen "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio," you should. Normally, Hollywood preaches a predictable liberal sermon about greedy corporations, the evil military, mythical global warming, and the fantasy triumph of progressive ideas. But someone in Tinsel Town messed up with "Prize Winner"... this 2005 movie, starring Julianne Moore and Woody Harrelson, is an outstanding metaphor for the real relationship between the government and the economy in today's America.

Who Is Responsible For Your Choices?
| |
| Who is responsible for your life - your career - your choices? That may seem like a silly question, but often there is a victim mentally from people who choose to blame others. The others may be your parents; or the spouse that left you broke and broken-hearted. The other to blame for your hardship might be an employer who let you go for whatever reason; or a friend who betrayed you; or whatever calamity you choose to blame on another.

It is All Your Fault
| |
| What makes your business stressful? The huge volume of work? Having copious different projects to monitor? The long hours? Always thinking about work? Is it the bills? No. Actually, it's you!
We are evolving into a population of complainers who want to stay 'under the radar' of responsibility, through avoiding conflict, negating ownership and persistent procrastination |

Give up excuses!
| |
| So, we all have excuses in life that we fall back on time and time again. Maybe because of difficult upbringings, or hardships, certain beliefs have laid their imprint on you. Excuses keep you from venturing forward, in that they keep you safe from possible heartbreak. Having an excuse excuses you from facing the truth, while keeping you in your comfort zone. |

4 Ways to Ensure Your Business Thrives
| |
| What’s the biggest problem facing your organization? Inadequate funding? Burnout of employees, volunteers, board members? Lack of vision? Overwhelming workload?
Many, many organizations face these issues. But if you think “Well, that’s just the nature of this kind of work,” think again. These problems are often symptoms indicating that an organization has slipped into what I call a culture of endurance.
Please note that endurance is not the same as perseverance. When organizations persevere, everyone may work long hours and get by on a shoestring, but employees, volunteers, board members, and general membership all feel energized, enthusiastic, and united by a common goal/mission.
When companies or nonprofits are in endurance, however, they exhibit some typical symptoms: |

Work From Home Business Means Giving Up Your Day Job Mentality
| |
| Work from home business and a day job mentality are opposites that do not attract. A job mentality is getting up in the morning and going out to put in an 8 and one half hour work day. When the work day is done you come home to relax, put your feet up and forget about the workplace until the next day when you start all over again. The tasks you are expected to carry out are clearly identified when you accept the job. All of that changes when you work for yourself. Dreaming of a home based business often includes a scene where you are sitting in an easy chair sipping coffee or your favorite beverage with the phone at your side. If that phone is not ringing off the hook then you are dreaming about a vacation not a home based business business. You must understand that owning a work from home business means giving up your day job mentality. |

Personal Responsibility: Count Your Blessings
| |
| The way things are going in the world today, it's easy to slide into the "victim mentality" and lose sight of your blessings. In my country, our leaders seem to be doing everything they can to amplify this feeling of frustrated victimhood, seeming to prefer government "help" and control to personal responsibility and the can-do spirit that built the country in the first place. In this hot, stressful season, I'm coaching too many people who seem to have lost too much courage.

Climb That Tree and Increase Your Sales
| |
| Most salespeople will tell you today that a lot of the business has gone away. The fruit that was once hanging so low in the tree is gone---picked away by the competition---caused to die away by the economy. In fact, it is these statements that trigger the VICTIM mentality and tend to shut down a good portion of the selling efforts. Listen to me: With very few exceptions, there is still plenty of opportunity (fruit) in the tree. Now is the time, however, that we need to learn (or re-learn) how to climb! Now is the time when the “weeding out” process begins. Now is the time when those who “cannot or will not” are replaced by those who can, will, and DO! |

Three Primary Reasons To Become An Entrepreneur
| |
| For some time, I've written and spoken about the difference between two basic types of person out there these days: The Victim, and The Entrepreneur. The Victim needs to be taken care of... the Entrepreneur takes care of herself, and others. The Victim is competitive, and views life as a win-lose (sometimes even a lose-lose) proposition; the Entrepreneur is collaborative, and sees life as win-win. Victims blame others; Entrepreneurs are self-reliant, and get things done.... |

Progressivism Isn't Progress, IX
| |
| If the progressives get their way, your efforts to do your best will not only be unappreciated, they'll be opposed. The mass victim mentality that will dominate the society will replace "Be all you can be" with "Who do you think you are?"... "Work hard to get ahead" with "Why do you think you can have something I don't have?"... and "It's important to make a good impression" with "Why are you trying to make the rest of us look bad?" When "fairness" reigns, personal excellence will become a bad thing.... |
