Book Signings Are Your Best Friends
So you’ve written a book, had it published and you are now facing the dreaded book signing or book launch. Your palms sweat at the thought of facing droves of people and actually having to talk to them. You are a writer, not a salesperson, right? Wrong! If you do not have the guts and determination to sell your own work, then why should anyone else do it for you?

Entertainment Usage Keep Changing, Growing
The world of content and entertainment is changing right before our eyes. People want their entertianment on their big screen, on their PC, on their mobile whatever. The "pro" content providers (the dudes/dudettes) who earn the big $$$$ are really trying to figure out what YOU are doing wrong! Their weekly schedule is good. It's logica. It's what consumers want. Should be they change it enough. But then there's that pesky Internet stuff and suddenly people can get their content when they want...day/night, home/office/round-the-globe. That sorta, kinda sucks. How do you charge big $$$ for advertising when people don't all watch at the same time? Why are folks screaming out their windows? What are they saying? We think we know but find out more on this link.

The Business Virgin: Branson Enters The Game
With his magazine failing him, Branson turned to the idea of setting up a record mail order business in 1970. At just 20 years old, Branson began placing record ads in Student and soon began to realize the high demand. He dropped out of high school and began focusing on his new business, which was now making a profit. This modest success allowed him to rent an empty shop on Oxford Street in London in order to set up a music store. His magazine staff was transferred to the discount record store and the operation began to take off. At a loss for a name, one of the girls suggested ‘Virgin’ since they were “complete virgins at business”. With that, the Virgin Empire was born.

Lesson #2: Build A Powerful Brand
In 2005, Branson said his goal was to turn Virgin into “the most respected brand in the world.” Branson is not far off from achieving his goal. Virgin was recently found to be one of the UK’s top three favourite and most respected brand names and both the brand and the man behind it are known throughout the world.

Lesson #4: Break Records
“We’re going where no one has gone before,” says Branson, referring to Virgin Galactic’s partnership with the estate of New Mexico to build the world’s first commercial spaceport. “There’s no model to follow, nothing to copy. That is what makes this so exciting.”

Richard Branson Virgin
Its name may raise some eyebrows, but there can be no doubt as to the tremendous success of the Richard Branson Virgin Group. Run as a cluster of separate and distinct companies that come together under the Virgin brand, this Group was first established by British entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson. With services that range from travel and music to wine, cosmetics, and even bridal wear, Virgin remains one of the most successful privately held corporations in the U.K., and indeed, the world.

The New Communications Tools…Listening, Helping
If you ever have a chance to read some of the PR for PR sake pieces on Web 2.0 you'd swear we now have a new frontier that is tailor made for PR people. A whole new virgin territory that is our to own. A whole new brave frontier where PR will lead and the world will willingly follow. Feels like a great chance for a lot of people -- mobs even -- to take us to the cleaners. There are better options any/every entrepreneur can use to succeed...lurk, learn, listen, help.

Targeting – The Most Critical Tool for Growth during Tough Economic Times
Targeting is the process of selecting high potential customer accounts to receive intense sales focus. Goal setting translates that high potential into achievable numeric objectives, i.e. revenue and margin growth. Each Territory Manager should select a predetermined number of Target Growth Accounts (TGAs). Creating focus on this group of selected accounts doesn't mean a Territory Manager should ignore other accounts; he/she is always expected to service their entire territory. When making decisions regarding their time, however, they should always consider these selected Target Growth Accounts a priority.

Seven Sales Facts to Ponder
From a management perspective, the goal of any sales initiative should be to improve the quantity and quality of the sales efforts of your salespeople. Its primary purpose is to provide focus-process and discipline that will enhance territory performance. This enhancement will lead to an increase in the sales, profitability and market share for each individual territory.

Sales Management --Unmask the Confusion of Territory Account Assignment
When I carried a bag, sales territories were defined geographically. Of course, that was in the old days. My daughter calls it the days of Black & White Television. In reality, color television came out when I was still only seven years old. But in the days when I was a field sales rep, the 70’s & 80’s, a sales person got a chunk of geography and you were told this is your patch of dirt. You go out and you farm the territory and you build the business. However, for the most part, if you are going to grow your territory it has to grow by taking market share from the competition. Territories today need to go from being geographically defined to being key account assignment defined. So, in other words, when you use the term, ‘territory’ today, you’re not referring to a patch of dirt.
