You Can Have Any Colour As Long As It Is Black
| |
| Henry Ford in 1922 was quoted as saying about his Model T Ford “the customer can have any colour as long as it is black”. Today we smile at this, and say of course this doesn’t happen today ... but it does!

It’s All About PR
| |
| You learn that, in the book world, PR is everything. When you walk into a bookstore, you are walking into a treasure house of 140,000 books. Online at amazon.com, there are 2.5 million books. Somewhere in your mind, dimly, you knew that, but nothing drives it home so much as walking into a bookstore and seeing rack upon rack of beautiful books and then you go find your section and see all the racks of beautiful self-help books and then... |

| |
| By Mike Schultz and John Doerr
Recently, we presented to a group of firm leaders across a range of service areas on how to sell professional services. During the Q & A session, one leader of an engineering firm asked, “This is all great stuff, but how do you get them (my engineers) to sell? I mean, I have tried everything, but they still would rather do just about anything but sell.”

The Gemba Walk

| ‘Management by Walking About’ is an accepted way of undertaking a kind of audit or check-up on how things actually happen – as distinct from how they are expected to happen.
