Lesson #3: See the Forest Through the Trees
“I think the more you have a generalist perspective, I think sometimes the more you can kind of see through the forest and the trees,” says Case. “And when it gets a little bit cloudy, you know, have some sense of, ‘Well, maybe this might happen or maybe that might happen.’”

Parking Lot Power
“Solar Trees” shade parking lots and create power.

Money DOES Grow on Trees
Money grows on trees?! Yes, it does. Well, this is just a metaphor. But the point is that money is as abundant as fruit on trees. Some of you may be thinking, "Yeah, right!" If you are, then you better listen up. ;-)

A Moment to Change
Trees grow up through their branches, down through their roots and grow wider with each passing year. As growth occurs, trees eventually shed their protective bark to make way for growth. Humans are the same way. Just as trees need bark as a protective shield while growth occurs, we as humans need boundaries to defend our vulnerabilities as our potential unfolds… but our ongoing growth depends on our ability to shed this “bark” of protection when it is no longer needed. In some cases, an inability to shed this bark will constrict our ability to realize our full potential.

Failure of HQ & Sales to Communicate Effectively
Sin #4 of the "9 Most-Deadly Sins in Sales & Marketing" is Failure of HQ & Sales to Communicate Effectively * HQ/Marcomm sees forests, not trees * Sales sees trees, not forests Perspective is everything in business and in everything we do. It's essential that Sales and Management agree on what's best for their customers -- and their company. They must start by agreeing on the best "Positioning Statement" they can make for their company. All messages the company conveys -- Mission Statements, Elevator Pitches, Ads, Websites, etc -- should all have their origins in the Positioning Statement. All parties must also agree that the Positioning Statement is the best message the company can make.

Ontario Simcoe – Hit The Nature Trails
The Simcoe County is primarily famous for its pinewood forests. The region's history is tied with that of these forests. The first settlers who arrived here in the 1820s cleared vast tracts of forests for agriculture and other activities. Others felled trees for timber and wood. So much so that the dense pine forests soon gave way to level fields, with just about a few copses of trees remaining. Exactly 100 years after the first settlers arrived, Simcoe went on overdrive to replenish her forests. Today, this country has some of the best forest land in Canada.

Managing the Manager
While the shareholders are watching the CEO who is trying to keep an eye on everything and is focused on the forrest rather than the individual trees, and management is focused on the employees at shop floor level... who is keeping an eye on the managers?

Lawn Care and Landscaping Franchises- Reclaiming Lawns and Reinventing Careers
After a historically intense winter, during which at one point 49 out of the 50 U.S. states had snow on the ground, people are eagerly embracing spring. However, the melted snow is revealing the damaging effects and the toll that the winter weather took on trees and landscaping. Resuscitating lawns, shrubs and trees that have been ravaged by a relentless winter is proving to be a boon for landscaping and lawn care businesses that restore lawns to their green glory.

My Advice to the Wise Investor
Visualizing the cycle in its entirety is the easiest way to grasp its predictability. But in order to see the pattern you have to zoom way out and see the forest through the trees, as it were, because one pulse in investment properties takes 12 to 15 years.

Choice More than Chance Determines Our Circumstance
The day was a winter wonderland as our family drove through the country to a Christmas open house at a friend's home. A fresh snowfall had left the trees, houses, and barns covered with a inch of magical white powder. The day was cold, but in the brilliant sunshine the snow sparkled across the fields and glittered as it wrapped the buildings and trees in it's twinkling blanket. It was like driving through a Currier and Ives painting. At the open house, I babbled on about the wonder and beauty of our 30-minute drive through such an enchanted postcard scene. Another guest who just arrived from a 90-minute drive shut me up when he snarled, "Some winter wonderland! The slush and spray from the highway was constantly smearing our windshield. It drove me nuts. I hate driving in that crap."
