Are You Aware Of The Noise In Your Business
All too often, you're too close to your business to hear the "noise." I was reminded of this at a recent going away party I attended. I'll share some tips for helping to break through this noise to get a better handle on where your business stands.

The Best of Times...The Worst of Times?
Today is March 12, 2009. I am identifying this day so you can get a perspective of where we are in the world. I don’t know about you but I am getting a little tired of what the media is exposing us to. Every statement seems to start with “during these tough times”, even commercials are getting on board with the negative jargon. Every statistic is peppered with “the worst since”, “highest since”, or “lowest since”. I question the mechanism for such quotes and who really cares? Even the weather has become “severe” weather with it’s corresponding lowest or highest recorded stats. I may regret saying this but I’m ready to hear more about Iraq, that has been pushed to the back page.

Building Brand Awareness – Use all 5 Senses
There is a lot of advertising noise in today’s world. But, it is this advertising that builds company brand awareness. Given all this noise, how can a small business build awareness in its customers while not getting lost? Think about the 5 senses.

What is the Difference Between Weather and Climate?
Weather and climate - aren't they the same? No, the principal difference is the measure of time. Weather is the description of conditions over a short time period and in a localized area or region. In contrast, climate describes the sum of weather conditions over an extended period of time.

How do you cut through the noise?
I gave a talk at a function the other night, and was asked an interesting question by one of the guests, being how do we cut through the noise to market our products, services and ourselves. The Zen answer is, you make a different sound by being silent. The practical answer is, you need to focus on three things to cut through the noise.

MLM Recruiting and Lead Generation Tips: How to Get Invited To Your Prospect’s World as a Welcomed Guest and Not a Pest
We are drowning in a waterfall of information and endless marketing “noise” thanks to the internet. As a result, we have raised our guard and surrounded ourselves in ironclad fortresses to stave off the onslaught of hands trying to get into our pockets. These fortresses have taken on the form of SPAM blockers, pop up blockers, caller ID, spyware software, and the “Do Not Call List.” In the midst of all this marketing “noise,” there are two methods of lead generation you can use to build your network marketing or MLM business.

Communication Skills - What we need to be Aware of.
"Isnt the weather dreadful? Isnt it shocking? God it's a beautiful day" How many times have we heard and responded to statements like this? Well don't knock it as nine-tenths of people would not be able to start a conversation if the weather didn't change once in a while. Communication skills trainers define communication as the exchange of ideas and information through speech, writing and behaviour.

Depression
February is considered the most depressing month of the year. The festivities of the holidays are over and there is no break in the weather for what seems like forever! This combination of decreased sunlight and bitter weather conditions helps manifest depressive feelings in many people.

That dog won’t hunt
Here we are at the end of March already. I was talking with a friend the other day about an old farmer’s adage we used to anticipate in March regarding the weather: “In like a lamb, out like a lion.” Or “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” The expectation was that if we had harsh winter weather at the beginning of March we would have mild weather at the end – and vice versa. I have no idea why that is expected but it reminds me of all the little clichés that we accept as reality. As farmers we also used to cite, “Red in the morning, sailors warning; red at night, sailors delight.”
