A Retail Holiday Tale
I had my own interesting retail experience the other day, which I think you might find entertaining. In keeping with holiday tales it may be enlightening too. I like to keep tabs on the current retail environment, and also as a consumer I enjoy going to stores such as Costco to see what interesting values their good buyers have found. The point I am making in this article is that successful retailers take the appropriate actions to deal with the environment at hand, rather than deciding it is out of their control.

What To Do When The Media Come Knocking
It's 5:30 on a Friday afternoon and you're preparing to close up shop for the weekend. Then the telephone rings. It's a local reporter asking for some of your time to conduct an interview. StartupWeekend: We need this event in Kenya
Yesterday as I prepared to go to sleep I decided to head to my favorite technology and web 2.0 blog Techcrunch just to see if I'd missed something of interest (this happens a lot bearing in mind that I'm running around like a nutcase over the weekend) and one thing caught my eye that got my juices pumping StartupWeekend which apparently is/was a hookup of 70 founders who came together to build a startup in one weekend woh!!

Why is the President Obama using YouTube?
The thing that I found interesting this weekend during my weekend surf through YouTube was a video by President Obama. The three-and-a-half minute video entitled “A New Year, A New Beginning.” was directed to the Iranian people. Barack Obama is trying bring the U.S. and Iran relations closer together by addressing the people directly. Obama used the internet extensively throughout his campaign and hopes that his message has the same effect with the Iranian people.

Profitable Online Home Based Business Ideas and the Recession: No More Mondays
I can remember looking forward all week with great anticipation for the weekend. It seemed the week would just drag on and on. I can also remember the weekend just flying by. I dreaded Sunday afternoons because I knew in just a few shorts hours was my most dreaded day of the week, MONDAY!

Creativity, Innovation -- Making the Mind Struggle
Bet you're looking forward to next weekend like there's no tomorrow! Labor Day weekend is a great time to unwind, shed the stress, strain, anxiety of your workday world. Of course you won't shed it all...you'll check email, you'll carry your phone with you. Well we'll add a little more to the load you're carrying. There are signs that the U.S. (it is our holiday after all) is losing its creative lead. There are problems, there are issues, there are opportunities on a global basis. How Smart Is Your Local Business Marketing?
Local businesses tend to market locally and with the same approach. A flyer in the weekend paper and maybe some radio ads, and with the same offers week in, week out. This can definitely work, and weekend sales might be all you need to get by. But do you really want to continue just getting by at weekends, or do you want to be a business for every day of the week?

Fishing Lessons
Recently, I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon fishing with my father. This is something I highly recommend. He and I spent a lot of time fishing when I was growing up, but now we seem to get out once or twice a year. I find that the fishing is irrelevant. The key is the outing itself and the time we spend together, as well as the lessons I learn. Fishing is simply an excuse to enjoy an afternoon outdoors with someone you love and respect. Fishing somehow makes it legitimate. If you were to take an afternoon off work, stand at the lakeshore, and talk, you would be considered lazy or unproductive. But if you hold a fishing rod during the process, it makes it all somehow legitimate.

Time To Honor Real Inspirational Leaders
Enjoy your weekend. Our fallen heroes would certainly want you to do that. And I hope you'll also spend a little time this weekend in observance, and that doing so will impart some inspiration to you that will last throughout the year. I coach entrepreneurs, folks who own a business, and other aspiring inspirational leaders in business... but you have to agree, the real inspirational leaders are the ones who gave the full measure of sacrifice on the battlefield so that we could live in a free society....
