Positioning is therefore the process of putting a product in a location in reference to the competition and the entire market.

I recently had the great honor and privilege of visiting our United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. I was overwhelmed by the courage and passion of those that occupy this post. They are truly remarkable people and I was struck by how much the disciplines they practice relate to selling. Yes, it might be a stretch to tie what happens at West Point to sales and selling, but not much of a stretch. This group of young people consistently demonstrates at an extraordinary level all of those competencies necessary to succeed in selling: courage, desire, commitment, persistence and ethics. They are sales people in fatigues. They spend their day selling others on the connection between athletics and winning on the battlefield. One of the metrics for success: bringing everyone back alive. That is life or death.

20 Jan 2010: Blue Foods leading coffee chain The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL) is all set to open its fifth outlet at Blue Heaven, Linking Road, Bandra West in Mumbai on January 21. If You Want to Succeed … Have a Plan!
Ok well this isn't a trip journal, so I'll get to my point and how this all relates to what I have been writing about on this 30 day experiment. I have already written about accountability, having a positive attitude, and setting goals to help improve your chances of success. Well, just like my trip out west, if you set a goal that you truly want to achieve, it would be silly to believe you can just do whatever you want to achieve that goal. Sure you could just set the goal, think about it all the time, and do little tasks here and there that will help you advance towards the realization of that goal, but it would take you much longer to get there ... if you ever did.
