A Moment to Change

Humans are the same way. In some cases, an inability to shed this bark will constrict our ability to realize our full potential.

Footwear Major Woodland to franchise internationally
Feb 16, 2010: Footwear and apparel player Woodland will open exclusive stores in select foreign markets later this year, marking its foray into single-brand retailing overseas. The company, according to its top official, would be using the franchise route for its international expansion. The home-grown brand is in advanced stages of negotiations in some markets like the Middle East, South-East Asia and Sri Lanka for selecting local franchise partners and said it will have three to four exclusive outlets abroad by the year-end. At present, Woodland is present in over 600 multibranded outlets in the Middle East, Singapore and Thailand.

The Simcoe County is primarily famous for its pinewood forests. The region's history is tied with that of these forests. The first settlers who arrived here in the 1820s cleared vast tracts of forests for agriculture and other activities. Others felled trees for timber and wood. So much so that the dense pine forests soon gave way to level fields, with just about a few copses of trees remaining. Choice More than Chance Determines Our Circumstance
The day was a winter wonderland as our family drove through the country to a Christmas open house at a friend's home. A fresh snowfall had left the trees, houses, and barns covered with a inch of magical white powder. The day was cold, but in the brilliant sunshine the snow sparkled across the fields and glittered as it wrapped the buildings and trees in it's twinkling blanket. It was like driving through a Currier and Ives painting. At the open house, I babbled on about the wonder and beauty of our 30-minute drive through such an enchanted postcard scene. Another guest who just arrived from a 90-minute drive shut me up when he snarled, "Some winter wonderland! The slush and spray from the highway was constantly smearing our windshield. It drove me nuts. I hate driving in that crap."
