A Leadership Guide To Managing The Generations
| |
| One of the most common questions I am asked by managers is “how can I manage the ‘younger’ generation?” It seems every second workplace is having challenges between different generations …with differences in expectations of managers, work approach and style.
Let me start by saying that what I am about to tell you will be discussing the generalities of generations. Before you leap in and yell “stereotypes” … listen up for a moment.

5.2 International economic integration and social justice: Working Out of Poverty
| |
| Policies to improve the governance of the labour market based on the
decent work approach can create and enlarge the channels that ensure that
sustainable growth yields the largest possible reduction in poverty. However,

countries that are themselves economically and socially excluded. |

| For people living in poverty, discrimination and multiple deprivations
cumulate to create a cycle of disadvantage. Recurring themes of the experience
of poverty are the low returns to work of women and men in socially
excluded communities and barriers to finding decent work opportunities. |

Productivity Lessons from an Accidental Entrepreneur
| |
| Susan is in business for herself, but did not set out to be an entrepreneur. She stumbled into entrepreneurship (or self-employment) upon returning to work after a major health challenge, and finding herself essentially out of a job. An important mind shift changed Susan's approach to work, from keeping time to focusing on results. A Healthier Approach To Work Life Balance
| |
| Why is it that so many people in there thirties and forties are so stretched to the limit that their bodies and minds are stretched close to breaking point? It just seems that we have got the whole work life balance out of sync. For some reason we have designed it so that your career obligations (and time required at work) peak during the most important time of your young families life. Team Marketing: The Right Approach
| |
| Marketing/PR consultants will take one of two approaches in working with their clients. One approach is to treat a client as a client where they offer work and advice and have no vested interest in the outcome. The other approach is when the consultant makes him/herself part of the marketing team so there may not be a financial or equity interest in the client’s business, but as part of a team the consultant exhibits more of an interest to achieve success.
I suggest the latter approach.

The Sandwich: I Won\\\'t Bite
| |
| In \"Management 101,\" you were probably taught to tell a person something difficult by using the \"sandwich\" approach where you say nice things to the person before and after the difficult part. The theory behind the sandwich approach is that if you couch your negative implication between two happy thoughts, it will lessen the blow and make the input better tolerated by the person being coached. The problem is that this method usually does not work, and it often undermines the credibility of the person using it.
