Impossible Achievements
Last weekend, I did something that I thought was impossible. I broke a piece of wood into two pieces with my bare hand. I was in total shock afterward, but a good kind of shock. Breaking that wood was such a stretch for me that afterward, my mind started to play tricks on me. I wondered if I did really do it. Luck for me, there was a room full of people watching me and could verify that I did actually do it. AND I have the piece of wood to prove it!

Reducing Workplace Stress And Conflict And Boosting Profits At The Same Time
Follow these three steps and you will stop a lot of client dissatisfaction. It will not only help your customers stress levels but will help you and your family if you apply these same principles away from work.

Self Leadership - Your Emotional Guidance System
At work or play you're permanently being guided by an internal emotional guidance system. It's like one of the in-car GPS navigation systems. You punch in where you want to go and you constantly receive self leadership feedback as to whether or not you're on the right road. If you watched "The Secret" many of the teachers talked about listening to your inner wisdom. If you feel good inside, then you are on path and miracles can happen. If you are feeling very uncomfortable, then you are blocking your flow and making life harder than it needs to be.

Is Your Life by Design or by Default
A colleague today brought this to my attention: he said we all either create our lives by design or live them by default.

United, we stand. Divided, we fall.
Most of us need other people. Whether it is a good friend, a lover, or an astute business colleague, most of us need to maintain relationships with others.

Tips On How To Deal With Stress
We have all encountered different types of frustrating situations: a boss who stifles our creativity or who gives us work to do and never thinks to ask us about it;a colleague who has absolutely no interest in details and who consequently puts an entire project at risk; an employee whose rigid approach to doing things by the book is actually harming relationships with our clients.

Stress Management
We’ve all had it happen to us before: we’re just about to head home from the office for the day when a colleague asks us if we could stay just a bit later to help them with something. And, against the advice of the little voice in your head telling you to go home to your family, you accept. Ignoring that little voice of ours is what so often leads to us becoming inundated with more projects that we can handle. And that is why no matter in what line of business you work, it is important to understand and master the principles of stress management.

What Does My Family Have to Do With My Work?
If you think you’ve left your family at home when you come to work---well think again. We all bring the roles we played in childhood with us to adulthood. Sometimes they mature but in cases of stress and strife those old behaviors surface again—ever feel like throwing sand at your office buddy? Take a long, hard look at conflict and difficult behavior in the office. Now read on to learn how the situations that offend you remind you of some situations in your past, maybe it’s the annoying colleague who picks on you like your brother or sister. Think about it and notice.

What Do You Want to Be When You Grow-Up? Really, what do you?
I was recently asked that question by a colleague of mine, and without hesitation, the words just rolled out of my mouth.

Five Principles of Effective Change Creation
As a leader you must implement change to create continuous improvement. It's a hands-on process. You can't lead from afar. A former colleague of mine used to always say; "It's easy to be brave from a distance." Arguably that may be one of the truest statements made when it comes to the instigation of change. Change is hard work. It requires process tools that are sensitive to your organizational culture.

The Art of Research
For going on two decades, through over a dozen books, numerous screen plays, and in excess of 600 of these columns, every word has been dictated to and typed by my trusted and treasured colleague Dorothy Thompson. As she types these words, I am reminded of her statement, "You have to know what won't work before you can find what does work."
