Stop Saying “Work Smarter, Not Harder” and Great Things Shall Happen!
Emerging from a recession, grabbing opportunity and surviving intense global competition, we cannot be fooled by the dangerous and misleading propaganda... "Work Smarter, Not Harder!" Statements along these lines when misinterpreted can only lead to disaster. The blueprint for success requires balance.

Work Hard and Make It Happen
Is there something you are hoping will happen? Don't! Work hard and make it happen. You will feel better in that victory than in the simpler one.

7 Olympian Traits to Supercharge Your Life and Business
Olympians are not like ordinary people. Let’s face it, most of us are not motivated enough to get up at 4:00 am and practice our hearts out for six hours a day, seven days and week and then hold down a job, be involved in fundraising and community service. Learn how you can take common Olympian traits and enhance your life and business without sacrificing your mind, body or sleep!

DOES HOPE FLOAT?
Charlie Brown, the little neurotic fellow we have all come to know and love is an eternal optimist when it comes to kicking a football. No matter how many times Lucy pulls the ball away he always hopes that the next time she will let him kick it. In a way we are all like Charlie, no matter how often we hope, regardless of the outcome we always come back to it again and again. Activity vs. Productivity
Most of us work very hard. We get up each day and spend eight hours or more doing something we call work. If you talk to the most successful and the least successful persons you can find, they will probably both tell you they are working extremely hard. If this is true, why are so few people actually getting the results they want from their hard work?

Hard Work: It Really is Worth it
In Kevin Sheedy’s book Stand Your Ground his old coach, Tom Hafey wrote the Forward. He explained that Kevin realised that sport could offer him so many opportunities but they would only be realised if he worked not just as hard as anyone else but harder. This need to work harder was because Kevin did not have the same natural skills as most of his team mates and opponents. Thanks to my parents’ hard work me and many like me in Australia and other wealthy countries have been given a opportunity to live a wonderful, happy comfortable life. The downside of this great gift is not experiencing the hard work that went into creating it and therefore potentially not valuing it as much as it should be valued

Social Disease
I have always subscribed to the philosophy of “work hard - play hard”. But I always separated my play FROM my work. What I am referring to is my resistance to socialize with my employees or management peer groups as I worked my way up the corporate ladder. There is an inherent danger in creating a social environment within the workspace that spreads to the after work space. This almost ALWAYS ends badly. Here is my list of No-No’s:

Hard Work, Outstanding Performance and Success
Outstanding performance is an important key to career and life success. As Malcolm Gladwell points out, outstanding performers are hard workers. They know what they want and do whatever it takes to get it. They enthusiastically act on their dreams. This action helps them reach their goals. There is no way around hard work. You have to put in the time and effort if you want to be successful. Ask any "overnight success." Everyone that I've ever met tells me that they spent years and years getting to the place where they became an "overnight success." Set your goals. Work hard. Work smart. And you'll succeed.
