Workplace Conflict Resolution: A Practical Guide
When it comes to conflict, it’s pretty easy to take a bad situation and make it even worse. We say the wrong thing, in the wrong way, at the wrong time. Our emotions get the best of us and pretty soon things have spiraled out of control. With a little thought and planning, however, you can effectively work out problems with coworkers, clients, family, and friends. The next time you’re engaged in a quarrel or dispute, try the following approach:

Determine if your product is profitable before you make it
However hard you run, you'll still lose the race if you're running on the wrong path. In the same way, however hard you work to start up your business, you'll still end up failing if you started the WRONG business. A business venture revolving on the wrong idea, product or service is certain to fail. The fact that only 1 out of 10 business start-ups survive the 5-year mark should prove this. Before you start your own business, therefore, find out if you are going to be the exception or the norm. Find out by doing the following.

Entrepreneurs – How Not To Make Those Beginners Mistakes That Make Businesses Fail
You’ve come up with a great idea, got your new business set up and running, you are ready to make your first sales and you are sure that you are soon to be sitting by your pool – working a few hours a day! But…. it’s not happening, what on earth can be going wrong?

Misleading Mind-Sets, and Powerful Heart-Sets
Mind-sets can be accurate from a rational point of view but still be wrong. For example, a management professor at Yale University once responded to a student's proposal of a reliable overnight service that it was a "concept that is interesting and well informed, but in order to earn better than a C the idea must be feasible." Fred Smith went on to found the Federal Express Corporation. In the end, the professor's mind-set was wrong because his idea of what was feasible was limited. What is feasible, functional, possible, or proper to one person may be utter nonsense to a person who is working from the heart.

Entrepreneurs – Here Is How To Win A Tender Or Proposal
You are ready to write your proposal or tender. You know what you want to do, you’ve priced it up and you think that you have a great idea that will solve all your potential customer’s business problems so what can go wrong?

It's Not MY Fault...REALLY!!!
Let's face it, it can be daunting to realize you are the one who didn't do it right. To make matters worse, it can be even harder to see it. We can think we did things right and still be wrong. We can be told and refuse to believe. In B.C. people were told the earth was round but rejected it for thousands of years. Instead they thought it was flat, stationary and the center of the universe. They were wrong...for hundreds of years. And just like the person who believes his results are not his doing, he is wrong as well. Somewhere along the way, many people became fearful of failing. As a result, some don't try while others refute their participation in causing an outcome. They detach themselves from poor results and believe they weren't responsible while thinking there is no harm being caused...WRONG AGAIN!

Proving customers wrong only makes them right
You better believe it! Does it really matter if you're right? Yes it does, but not at the expense of making your customer wrong. If I had to choose between being right and losing a valued customer and being wrong and helping my customer see the situation as their opportunity - I would be wrong every time.

Gain Strength by Learning How to Overcome Failure
A few years back, Disney released an animated movie called “Meet the Robinsons” that had such a deep impact and meaning. The point of the story is to celebrate each failure you have because it gives you the opportunity to try again. Most people make the mistake in thinking that, just because they failed at something, they should just move on. Or, if they failed it meant they were never meant to succeed at it. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Visual Storyboarding: Big Lessons From a Little Proposal
“Let’s have a visual storyboarder capture our team meeting.” Sounds like a great idea, right? Wrong. Some folks will get up in arms about making the investment. Curious how to respond?

Golf and other things to make you giddy about work
I wonder how many brave entrepreneurs have overcome the naysayers and taken their crazy ideas to market only to fail, not because there was something intrinsically wrong with the idea, but because they hired the wrong people. Once you have that spark in your mind, who will build on your vision? Who will help you set realistic goals? Who will help you decide what you’re going to do and define what you’re not going to do? It has to be people you respect, trust and, yes, like.
