| |
| I have come to realize one thing. People like Janet Wilson and Stone Evans excel and thrive because of one mutual commonality. They have the spirit of truly helping other people succeed. That is not only in the words they convey, but they show... |

Why New Year Resolutions Don’t Work!
| |
| Every New Year’s Eve millions of people all over the globe make resolutions for the coming year. Every year they look back disappointed that yet another year has come and gone and their goals haven’t been achieved again. “End of Year Thoughts From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach”
| |
| As we enter the month of December each year, we often wonder where the year has gone, how quickly it has passed and what we did or did not accomplish. He end of each year finds us thinking about holidays, gifts, parties and friends, as well as the closing out of another business year. The end of the year is a time to look back on the previous year and look forward to the next.
And while reflecting on the past year, a strategic thinking business coach would like to suggest that you take time to remember and to give thanks for the great things that happened in your business. And to build on all of the positive things that you accomplished this past year and carry that positive momentum into next year.

Being Nice
| |
| I'm seated in the Tampa airport on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7, 2005. A gentleman recognized me and approached me saying, "Greater love hath no man for his wife than to always open her car door." That's something of a takeoff on what I've been talking about for many years, that it's the little things husbands and wives do for each other on a regular basis, not the big things once or twice a year, that breed long-term, successful marriages and lots of honeymoons instead of just anniversaries. |

Lesson #4: Use Innovation To Break Through Your Limitations
| |
| “We are used to things improving every year; we are used to having a better cell phone next year than this year; a better lap top,” says Musk. “We are even used to some basic things, like we expect more from your car in next year’s model than last year’s model. But this is not the case in space; reliability and cost - those are the fundamental parameters of transportation - have not improved.” |

The Gift Of Receiving
| |
| Every family has one. That one person who shoulders all the family burdens, keeps the family secrets and cleans up the family messes. The one who is everyone’s sounding board and shoulder to cry on. The one who remembers all the holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. The one around whom the family always gathers.
In my family, it’s my grandma. She has been the rock in my family for as long as anyone can remember. |

Renewal
| |
| Every New Year's Eve, I go through a kind of renewal ritual. It is my gift to myself for having done my best for the past year, and it allows me to look forward to an even better year to come. I have recommended some form of this for all people who take my leadership classes. It does not need to be done on the New Year; some people like to do this on their birthday or some other specific day of the year. The point is to designate one day to reflect on what you have done, where you are, and what you intend to do in the coming year and beyond. |

What A Beautiful Year
| |
| It was a weird year, and in many ways, a difficult year. It was a year of uncertainty, even a year of adversity for many people. It was a mean year for politics, a brutal year for business, and a disastrous year for the economy. But it was also a beautiful year.... |
