Lesson #2: The Good Luck of Goals is Not Luck at All

There are many who see the vast fortune of Li Ka-shing and call him a lucky man. Indeed, some of his more superstitious Chinese peers have even suggested that Li owes his success to 1928 – the year he was born, the year of the dragon. But, Li laughs in the face of anyone who suggests his accomplishments have been the result of chance or accident. “I wasn’t lucky,” he says, “I worked hard to achieve the goals I set for myself.”

“End of Year Thoughts From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach”

| As we enter the month of December each year, we often wonder where the year has gone, how quickly it has passed and what we did or did not accomplish. He end of each year finds us thinking about holidays, gifts, parties and friends, as well as the closing out of another business year. The end of the year is a time to look back on the previous year and look forward to the next.
And while reflecting on the past year, a strategic thinking business coach would like to suggest that you take time to remember and to give thanks for the great things that happened in your business. And to build on all of the positive things that you accomplished this past year and carry that positive momentum into next year.

The Capitalist With A Heart: The Early Years Of Brett Wilson

When Brett Wilson was in university, he persuaded a local dancer to re-enact Lady Godiva’s infamous horseback ride across campus as a stunt. Campus feminists were none too pleased, but they would be proud of Wilson today. The self-described “capitalist with a heart” has made a name for himself not only as the “nice” Dragon on CBC’s Dragon’s Den, but also as a savvy businessman, and a generous and innovative philanthropist who divides his time among his many passions in life.

Online Internet Marketing Business versus a Dragon in the Basement?

Everyone has a dragon/skeleton in their closet. They can be left to fester or removed by putting them behind us and moving on. My dragon represents my former life in the "traditional" workforce versus the internet marketing business I have found which holds the promise of the most wonderful life compared to that dragon of a "traditional job" holding no promise and from which I was recently laid off. Being my own boss, working the hours I choose, pocketing my profits, owning my creative ideas--any of those strike a chord with you? There are opportunities that would benefit you greatly especially during these difficult economic times. E-commerce continues to grow despite what is going on in corporate America. No layoffs or pink slips when you are the boss of your own internet marketing business.

How Quickly We Forget

I started using Dragon Naturally Speaking products about a year ago. I actually bought the software some three years ago but had a few false starts and finally gave up on the idea of dictating to my computer. It wasn't that the products were hard to use or didn't work - they are easy and do work.

Renewal

Every New Year's Eve, I go through a kind of renewal ritual. It is my gift to myself for having done my best for the past year, and it allows me to look forward to an even better year to come. I have recommended some form of this for all people who take my leadership classes. It does not need to be done on the New Year; some people like to do this on their birthday or some other specific day of the year. The point is to designate one day to reflect on what you have done, where you are, and what you intend to do in the coming year and beyond.

What A Beautiful Year

It was a weird year, and in many ways, a difficult year. It was a year of uncertainty, even a year of adversity for many people. It was a mean year for politics, a brutal year for business, and a disastrous year for the economy. But it was also a beautiful year....
